Priti Patel – poster girl for #Brexit ? That should add millions of votes to the Stay campaign

What she’s like: One of Westminster’s laziest, Priti Patel couldn’t be bothered to sit through the debate on retroactively depriving benefit claimants of their payments – she just turned up at the end to support the Tories’ draconian legislation.

Brexit campaigners must be quaking in their boots at the thought that Priti Patel might be put up as their best possible representative.

This poor excuse for a Parliamentarian – who barely qualifies as a human being in This Writer’s book – has one of the worst attendance records of any MP.

If she was invited to any Brexit events, she probably wouldn’t bother to turn up.

It is ironic that, as one of the authors of Britannia Unchained, a poorly-reasoned attempt to influence Conservative Party policy, she argued that British workers are “among the worst idlers in the world”, that the UK “rewards laziness” and “too many people in Britain prefer a lie-in to hard work”.

Her own 81.8 per cent Parliamentary attendance record falls far below the 97.9 per cent demanded of This Writer in my last newspaper job; therefore I consider her to be a slacker with no right to preach to me or anybody else.

Notice the Daily Mail article below says her parents’ work ethic inspired her views. What a shame it didn’t inspire her towards a similar work ethic of her own.

This is the “cossetted and sheltered” employment minister who described a group of wheelchair-using and walking-stick dependent pro-NHS campaigners, who visited her constituency office to plead for help protecting the health service, as a “thuggish gang”.

With that attitude, you’d think she was all for the European Union – its Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership seems set to turn the NHS into a historical footnote in very short order, if passed.

She blotted her ministerial copy-book, bringing the Conservative Government into disrepute with an insulting and arrogant response to an Urgent Question about the benefit deaths on the last day of Parliament before the summer recess last year.

And this mealy-mouthed minister proved she cannot be trusted to quote statistics correctly – in a debate on Employment and Support Allowance, she claimed the number of deaths caused by her Conservative Government’s casual corporate manslaughter was dropping – in fact, the percentage of the population that was dying had fallen, but the population is increasing and so had the actual number of deaths.

She may be the worst “poster girl” it is possible for the Brexit campaign to have.

Perhaps her only redeeming feature for them is that, with her up front, nobody will be discussing the real issues of our EU membership.

Rising Cabinet star Priti Patel is set to demand a meeting with David Cameron to tell him she will fight tooth and nail against his bid to keep Britain in the EU.

The move by Ms Patel, the telegenic Employment Minister, is expected in the next few days and is set to make her the poster girl of the ‘Out’ campaign.

It will come as a welcome boost for the ‘Leave’ movement following splits and feuds between rival groups and claims that its leaders are all ‘pale, male and stale’.

Ms Patel, 43, is the daughter of Indian Gujaratis who fled to Britain from Uganda in the 1970s to escape dictator Idi Amin. They set up a chain of newsagents in the South of England – and their work ethic inspired her future political views.

the grim reality mike is that it is the likes of her and her demeanor that are cause of all of the worlds troubles from Africa through to the middle east

all of of these conflicts are caused by the likes Priti Patel etc who continually say one thing but in reality are doing the complete opposite to their people which in turn leads to the people having to fight in order to save not only their own lives but also their families

it will only be when the public say no more to the likes of voting for Priti Patel and many others like her will the world become more stable
