Nice one, Jeremy! Hardy lays into BBC ‘impartiality’

Answering a question about senior citizens’ charity Age UK working with electricity supply e-On to offer older people an energy tariff that costs £249 more than the cheapest rate, he said:
“Old people are being ripped off, paying too much for stuff. It would help if we had a nationalised power industry who just set a lower tariff for older people, obviously. Shoehorn that one in; that will get cut.”
He was suggesting the programmes BBC editors would remove his comment because of its obvious political content. Then he continued in whinging tones, in mockery of the attitude he was claiming the BBC had:
“‘We can’t be seen to have opinions on the radio because the Charter’s up for renewal. Ooh, the Telegraph might ring us up. Ooh, what will we do then?’
“In the interests of balance I should say that private enterprise is bracing and the old are a burden on society and should die!”
(In the interests of balance, This Writer should probably point out that he wasn’t being serious about the last bit.)
Of course, this is only confirming what we all know to be true – that the BBC has spent the last few years grovelling to the Conservative Parasites, presenting the Tory point of view as the only credible position, rubbishing the Opposition and generally failing in its duty as a public service broadcaster funded by the viewing and listening population, rather than vested interests like private corporations (Sky, Channel 5) or the UK government.

I think Jeremy Hardy’s advice to Hunt during the News quiz to; “run Jezza,run” was very good advice.
I guess this is one of the reasons why a number of people have either threatened to or actually have refused to pay / cancelled their TV Licences ?
You are incorrect. The whole of his patter was in jest. Old people get charged more for their fuel because they earned more when they were young? How dare they? They get given – for free – all manner of goodies like free health care (when they’re at their weakest – I mean – wise up, let ’em go, they’re cluttering up the Country for heaven’s sake and there are far more worthy recipients just gagging to get some free treatment) and the Country can’t afford them. They get free bus passes yet the young get snaff all. Where’s the justice? THEY. ARE. OLD. they’re a bind on everything, it’s all want, want, want. Thousands of them went to University for free but are THEY required to give anything back to the needy young now that they’ve got big luxurious homes? Nope. And they’ll just pass their wealth off to their young sprogs. Anyone spoken to that Old Git who lives 2 doors away today? I thought not – and you’re better for it.
Guy has since been blocked from commenting on this site after he sent a further message that was beyond the pale in terms of the offense that was clearly intended.
He’s wrong here – Jeremy Hardy has strong left-wing views and often puts them forward on The News Quiz. Trust a right-winger like ‘Guy’ (I never believed that was his real name) to try to twist those views for his own purposes.
Those of us who put in a complaint against Laura Kuenssberg’s reporting got a very huffy answer from the BBC which absolutely ignored the basic premise that she might have shown bias at all. She was just reporting the facts. Very very sad.
Yes that’s exactly what they fed me, and my missus. The BBCs political output cannot have any credibility whilst that Tory harridan is at the helm. At least Nick Robinson although he is also a Tory kept his own views scrupulously out of sight.
It certainly seems to be a case of ” Two legs good, four legs bad. ” in the eyes of Ms. Kuenssberg doesn’t it?
It’s not merely the BBC grovelling to the Conservatives, though. The BBC largely IS the Conservatives. Most of the top posts on the board and in BBC News and Current Affairs are now filled by people with very close links with the Tories, from Rona Fairhead [head of the BBC Trust, an old friend of Osborne’s, and still business ambassador for Cameron] down through the likes of Robbie Gibb [editor of the Daily & Sunday Politics and head of BBC Westminster, former vice-chairman of the very unpleasant Federation of Conservative Student, former chief of staff to Francis Maude, brother of Tory MP Nicolas Gibb…]. There’s a LOT more of the same stuff when you start digging a bit on Wiki and the like. There’s been a quiet political coup at the Beeb and even The News Quiz seems to get a surprising number of unfunny Telegraph columnists and the like these days, as if spewing out the Tory line in a slightly jaunty voice is inherently funny. I was VERY pleased to hear Jeremy Hardy giving a hint at what I had guessed was going on behind the scenes on The News Quiz recently. Good man.
Absolutely spot on. The whole place is crawling with nasty Tories who hardly bother to hide their colours these days…

I’ve been drawing attention to Kuenssberg’s constantly quoting “a very senior Labour minister” calling Corbyn “a disaster” for months. As crabramblings said, the supposedly “left wing” BBC is now firmly controlled by Tory activists, cronies and friends.
