Labour MP throws boss of dodgy poverty charity out of parliament | Pride’s Purge

Stella Creasy: #angryMP.

This Writer voted for Stella Creasy in the Labour deputy leadership election last year.

I thought she was a good ‘un. Turns out I was right, it seems.

Labour MP Stella Creasy has had the head of a charity thrown out of parliament – after he shrugged when he was tackled about being responsible for families being forcibly evicted from their homes.

Former oil industry executive Keith Nunn is the chair of the trustees of the Glasspool Trust –an organisation which is supposed to help families in poverty.  But low-income tenants are now being forcibly evicted after Nunn and the other trustees of Glasspool decided to sell off to private developers valuable properties bequeathed to the charity.

Ms Creasy hashtagged a post on her Facebook page about the incident #angryMP.

Personally I think we could do with a lot more #angryMPs in parliament.

only a complete fool would have a celebrity or mp has a patron of their charity as they know nothing whatsoever either about long term illness or disability

To Stella, Congrats on your actions re the Chair of Glasspools. You are not my MP (David Cameron is unfortunately!) but I voted for you in the Labour deputy leadership elections. I did worry about that afterwards, as I got the impression that you were not fully behind my choice of Jeremy Corbyn as leader. Nevertheless, I hope that you will try to work with him as best as you are able. Your action against the sneering chief of Glasspools confirms to me that your socialist heart is in the right place. Well done again!

Well done Stella – keep up the good work; tough times ahead, both politically and out in the real world, and on both sides of the Atlantic, not to mention across Europe, Africa and the Middle East (okay pretty much everywhere).

No matter what Gideon delivers from his lil red box of tricks, let’s keep striving for a better here, now and future for all.

Here here, agree totally with Tony O’malley, nice to see she has fire in her belly, well done Stella. I don’t know how these people can live with themselves, money is their religion.

Now if only all the right wing Labour MP’s would show the same degree of guts and support Jeremy this rotten government could be exposed for what they are.

      Who’s Jeremy?

She did abstain from the vote on cuts to ESA for disabled people however. Can anyone tell me why so called “opposition” MPs do that? Why abstain at all?

The most likely reason is that she wasn’t there but was about other Parliamentary business and had ‘paired’ with a Conservative MP so that the absence of either of them would not make a material difference to the count. Can anybody confirm that, or deny it with an explanation of why she wasn’t there?

      • Terry Davies March 16, 2016 at 10:42 am - Reply

probably its more important for her to have attended the vote and moved other appointments back.

        • Mike Sivier March 16, 2016 at 3:34 pm - Reply

Parliamentary business is Parliamentary business. It’s on the schedule and can’t be moved.

I’ve done a quick check on TheyWorkForYou and it states categorically:
        “On 23 Feb 2016:
“Stella Creasy voted to retain the ‘work-related activity component’ in the Employment and Support Allowance.”

        So, Richie, you were wrong.

Some of us in Waltham Forest are wondering why her outrage didn’t extend to throwing out from her recent housing awards Cllr Liaqat Ali, a notorious multiple landlord in her borough – and a senior Labour councillor.
The last issue of ‘Private Eye’ has the story.

Locals are also also struck by the coincidence that the estate agency that won this year’s award also also helped fund her Christmas card competition.

She abstained on the workfare vote too. If you can’t vote against enforced labour, it doesn’t say much for you. This is just posturing, really.

    • Mike Sivier March 16, 2016 at 9:05 pm - Reply

When was this (be specific, please – “the workfare vote” is extremely vague). Do you know what she was doing instead?

It seems a large number of Walthamstow labour voters have been falling out of love with Stella lately. Too much career focus and not enough genuine caring for the community. PR photos rather than action.

What do you mean? Let’s have some evidence, rather than vague assertions.
