This is a story you might have missed during last week’s fuss over whether Jeremy Corbyn was poor in PMQs.

The ruling could hardly be more damning. It found Theresa May deported thousands of students from Britain on the basis of unscientific hearsay evidence. The Home Office behaved like a tin-pot dictatorship: detaining innocent people, accusing them of made-up charges without providing anything to back it up, denying them their day in court and then deporting them.Today’s ruling could open the doors to the return of thousands of students to the UK, if – of course – they wish to come back to a country which has treated them so appallingly. And it brings to a shuddering halt Theresa May’s mass deportation programme of students. It also raises serious questions about the legal and operational functions – as well as the basic morality – of the Home Office.

These Tory nasties are a bunch of tin-pot dictators. They appear to believe the law applies to everyone but themselves.

You couldn’t make this up. For years we have been told that students come to the UK for an education, then head off home giving nothing back to the UK. Now, when it is fairly obvious that many foreign students, if allowed to stay, do contribute a lot, she decides to deport them.

They come to the UK for an education and pay the going rate for that education. Their fees help to keep down overall fees. If they are from outside the EU they pay more than UK students. They come here on a visa for education and know that they cannot stay afterwards. We do get a benefits from them being here by their fees. It is only right that they may be required to leave when their studies are completed.
