Suliman Gani was accused in Parliament by David Cameron of being a supporter of Islamic State.

Speaking to ITV News London, Mr Gani strongly denied the allegation but accepted he is unable to launch a libel case because of rules which safeguard MPs’ freedom of speech.

I’m really, really upset. I’m deeply shocked – I am gobsmacked. Why am I singled out given that I have a track record on showing peaceful co-existence?

I have been working, engaging with all parliamentarians, cross party parliamentarians.

Why am I being singled out to be labelled by Zac Goldsmith to be the most repellant figure in the UK?

– Suliman Gani

On Islamic State, Suliman Gani added:

I do not [support Islamic State] and I categorically state that if the Prime Minister had to say those very same words outside parliament I would sue him.

I have categorically condemned Islamic State.

Blimey, I’m a little surprised that Mike allowed that comment! Having said that, I completely and utterly agree with it though!
Actually you’ve just got to hope that Cameron attends one of those posh dinners at some point, gets a little bit drunk, forgets what he’s saying, and comes out with the same thing! And you’ve also got to hope that someones videoing it! Would that stand up in court Mike? :)

Why should ‘they’ (MP’s) get away with this when ‘we’ (citizens) would be charged with racial/religious incitement and would be able to be sued by the victim!

No one should be able to damage the reputation of anyone without proof!

He must now either furnish that proof to the police or resign!
    An apology is not enough!

Should sue him in Scotland for abuse of public office, as it’s clear that Hameron abused his parliamentary privilege to make this vile slander.

‘Doggy Dave’ knows both where and when to tale lies; unlike, those running the ‘famous Conservative battle bus’. Famous for what, you may be asking yourself, fraud, it would appear.

Defamation of character is both a criminal & civil offence.

It can be. But defamation only becomes a criminal offence if it is likely to lead to criminal offences being committed.

I was unaware of such a rule. If this extends beyond the liberty afforded every British subject, then it is, by it’s nature and it’s patent openness to abuse, abhorrent and undemocratic. As this repugnant, right dishonourable gentleman has shown.
