Some of us have been saying this for years. It’ll be interesting to see what she does about it – beyond idle talk.

Baroness Meacher, who led the fight in the House of Lords against planned cuts to tax credits, has told RT’s Going Underground programme that the number of people who take their own lives is likely to increase as cuts are rolled out.

She said: “They can’t see a way out, and so what I anticipate is that there will be, over time as these cuts play themselves out, there will be an increase in the numbers of people who cannot go on and who take their lives.

“We will have an increase in suicide I think.”

“over time”, this is exactly the point. Numerous people I have spoken to express this thought, that given the prospect of poverty, no care and ever dwindling resources they will be left with no logical option other than to (as one put it) take the easy way out.

Baroness Meacher may well express her concern, but in the event, how are these people ever to be counted, which is what it will take to be evidenced, as a proportion of the population? I seem to remember there is a law that prevents the encouragement of suicide, perhaps this is another charge to be laid at the Tories door.

Revolution can surely be justified as an act of self-defence.

even if they did try to do anything about it within the house of lords as the last time the lords tried to do anything about it ids and his fist pumping cronies who all cheer and think that this is a good won’t do anything about it, i just hope that this case in Scotland really goes into play and we see the same instigators in charge of this policy who ignored coroner’s warnings led of to do some quality time in a Luxury Scottish Nick, hopefully followed by some wca assessors, especially the barham’s of this world and the ones who qualifications appertaining to the role are dubious and throw in afew decision maker’s as well, that will be the only way they will learn coupled with huge financia l losses against the parent companies for wrongdoings.
