Marlene Ellis suspension: Battle of disinformation over anti-Semitism claims does nobody any good

This is how the bad guys win – by lying to you.

The headline over the Jewish News piece quoted below says Labour suspended Marlene Ellis for saying Zionists were “involved with Nazis”. We know that is true, so why would it be a suspension offence?

The article goes on to repeat the falsehood about Ken Livingstone claiming Hitler was a Zionist. He said no such thing.

Naz Shah never said Israeli Jews should be “transported” to the US, either.

And the claim that Ms Ellis is “the latest in an increasingly long line of Labour Party members to face disciplinary investigation” could only be accurate if the article also made clear that an increasingly long line of Labour Party members have been cleared of such accusations.

Remember when Jim Murphy got Eastwood CLP to refuse Rhea Wolfson’s nomination to Labour’s National Executive Committee because of Momentum’s alleged problem with anti-Semitism?

He was referring to Momentum organiser Jackie Walker – who had in fact been readmitted to Labour before he made his claim.

But Ms Wolfson – who is herself a Jew – still lost the vote, meaning Jewish people lost the chance to have a representative on the NEC.

There is a huge amount of material in the open letter that triggered Ms Ellis’ suspension that comes from a questionable angle, or at least should be subjected to scrutiny to establish its factual accuracy.

And it seems likely that Labour leaders’ pride was pricked at the letter’s insistence that Labour is a racist organisation, simply as part of the UK ‘Establishment’.

None of that would justify the disinformation coming from outlets like Jewish News at the moment.

It should be publishing the facts, and This Writer wonders why it won’t.

What are these people afraid of?

A black-power Momentum activist has been suspended from Labour after saying that Zionists were “involved with Nazis” and that Labour was “seeking to curry favour with… the pro-Zionist lobby in and beyond the media”.

Marlene Ellis, the chief executive of Momentum Black ConneXions (MBC) published an open letter to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn calling former London mayor Ken Livingstone’s own suspension “an outrage,” after he said Hitler was a Zionist.

Addressing Corbyn, Ellis wrote: “It is our belief that your statement… plays right into the hands of Zionist criminals.”

On suspended Labour MP Naz Shah, who has apologised for suggesting Israeli Jews be “transported” to the U.S, Ellis said: “Her statement is not so outrageous within the historical context and involvement of Zionists with Nazis

Ellis, who denounces Labour’s “white supremacist elite,” took to Facebook to say she had been suspended – the latest in an increasingly long line of Labour party members to face disciplinary investigation for her comments.

What is the purpose of all this anti-semitism
/ pro-zionist fluff all about? Not only is it distracting from real issues but is putting the need to “take sides” in respect of Jewish interests which I don’t give a stuff about.
