EU referendum: Are YOU stupid enough to do what The Sun tells you?

Last Updated: June 14, 2016By

Today’s Sun headline proudly announces how its owner, foreign press baron Rupert Murdoch, wants you to vote in the EU referendum:

160614 Sun front page

He wants you to think you’ll be better off – because he’s telling you so.

That’s all very well, but let’s remind ourselves of another Sun front that asked you to believe what it was saying:

160614 Sun Hillsborough front

The inquest verdict on the Hillsborough deaths only happened in April. Have we all forgotten so quickly, how brazenly The Sun lied to us?

Of course The Sun is lying to us again.

If you want to know why Rupert Murdoch, who is not a UK citizen and has no vote in the referendum, would want to influence us towards a bad decision, look no further than the following:

160614 Rupert Murdoch EU

Does that clarify it for you?

it’s this type of dictatorship the uk needs to be aware of. If we leave the EU it will be the likes of Rupert Murdoch and co that will be running this country behind closed doors and in reality that will be the case

the public need to wake up as there are many not only in the uk but the wider world just like Rupert Murdoch

south Africa is run by just 6 billionaires for example and this is a very dangerous route for not only the UK but the EU so this country must avoid the likes of Murdoch getting a firm grip on the running of this country

The working class, right wing, tory loving halfwits of our country will yes, they believe anything the right wing press tell them, if they told them all immigrants had two knobs and want to steal and shag your wives and if you like foreigners then you’re a supporter of IS, they would, they pander to the bigots, racists and fascists of our nation, the little Englanders, who believe everything they’re told by the right, no wonder our country is in such a shambles!

in truth murdoch is obnoxious and horrible, he should take a boat and go swimming with Maxwell.

as for the sun, well i used to read that paper, note the word read i would not buy it and there was only one page that i was interested in, that was the hagar the horrible comic section,so funny, that was the only part i read in the sun then i gave it back, enough said really

As much as I dislike the Sun, it may have called the referendum correctly. The Sun does not take a stand until it is pretty sure of the outcome. It likes to be on the winning side. It supported Blair in his heyday ad then switched to Cameron when it saw Labour could not win.

The Sun wasn’t predicting the result – the headline is an attempt to influence it.
      Big difference, don’t you think?

      • hayfords June 14, 2016 at 2:30 pm - Reply

True. But they only try and influence things when they think it will make a difference or at least leave them on the winning side.

very true mike you only have to read other blogs and Tory newspapers to realize how much hatred is out there in people for those from overseas but in general hatred for all decent people

    Mike
    “its owner”, not “it’s owner”.
    Cheers

And the scary part of all this is Mike is that it will influence the result, what has happened to the people of this country?

Mike, are you stupid enough to believe Cameron that a brexit is the start of WW III?

    • Mike Sivier June 14, 2016 at 3:40 pm - Reply

      No.
I’m not stupid enough to believe Cameron about anything without objective evidence.

  8. jef June 14, 2016 at 4:12 pm - Reply

Mike, after 23rd June, if brexit is the majority, the world will not stop, trade will continue, the channel tunnel will not close and in the treaty, nothing will change for at least 2 years to give GB to re-align with the new system.

A little while ago I noticed attached to a fence next to a busy main road a very large UKIP (I think) sign saying:

    VOTE LEAVE

    Handwritten underneath was the warning:

AND DROP US ALL IN THE SHIT

The whole sign has since been removed

Some might say it was obvious, but you’ve got to admit that it’s a clever headline.

Murdoch is like a festering cancerous sore on the media in Britain. Pity he can’t be sent packing back to Oz.
