Stephen Crabb is no working class hero – look at his voting record | Left Foot Forward

Here are some more of Mr Crabb’s views.

This is revealing, from Left Foot Forward. Mr Crabb has been linked to the Conservative leadership contest. Do you want this kind of man running the country?

Stephen Crabb is, despite his roots, no friend of the working class. The dry language of the online register of votes says it well. On welfare and benefits, Crabb has:

  • Consistently voted for reducing housing benefit for social tenants deemed to have excess bedrooms, (which Labour describe as the ‘bedroom tax’)
  • Consistently voted against raising welfare benefits at least in line with prices
  • Consistently voted against paying higher benefits over longer periods for those unable to work due to illness or disability
  • Consistently voted for making local councils responsible for helping those in financial need afford their council tax and reducing the amount spent on such support
  • Consistently voted for a reduction in spending on welfare benefits
  • Almost always voted against spending public money to create guaranteed jobs for young people who have spent a long time unemployed

And that’s just for starters.

Crabb has voted for tax cuts for the richest, (specifically, those earning over £150,000), and voted against raising taxes for this income bracket.

He voted against a bankers’ bonus tax, though he has voted for higher taxes on banks.

Oh, and he’s voted consistently for a crackdown on trade unions, backing every restriction on union activities proposed by the government.

Working class my arse! He’s a phoney, a chancer and a homophobe, voted for Remain but because it wasn’t going that way, he’s switched sides, his comments on sick people and gays are outrageous, how there having been protests against him by both camps baffles me, he’s a typical sneaky, arrogant, heartless, ignorant, prejudicial, hypocritical, snidey, tory scumbag who should never become leader!

He appears to be what I can only describe as a weird character, and regardless of his background he is well endowed with Tory nastiness.

Don’t you just love someone who forgets their roots but then suddenly”rediscovers” them when it is convenient to do so. Hypocrite plus his views on homosexuality are not likely to get him the gay vote. Wierdy beardy.

I can safely say the man dislikes me, and also lied about my wife and I in our local press. He maintains we visited his surgery where he discussed our bedroom tax issues with us. We never did.

    He should fit in well!
And I like the subtle ‘voted for higher taxes on banks’ – but not Bankers!
Bet he won’t vote on any tax loophole closures either; too many MP’s use them – though obviously ‘unknowingly’ as their accountant deals with all that sort of thing!

May I ask too; How many MP’s have paid back all the excess money they took from the public purse when they all seem to have been so poorly informed as to what they could claim on expenses?
Should think that’s at least 5yrs of claiming for things they weren’t entitled too:- ‘though just asking; dang I suppose that’s another file opened!?

I absolutely do not. Any Tory minister would be better than one with a racist or homophobic mentality.
