This Labour MP’s bad-taste tweet dishonours himself, Jeremy Corbyn and a murder victim

Wouldn’t it have been nice to get away without having to mention the Russell Square stabbings?

Unfortunately, some stupid MP had to make a fool of himself over it and, even worse, it had to be a Labour MP.

Why Jim Fitzpatrick thought the stabbing – to death – of US citizen Darlene Horton, of Tallahassee, was an opportunity to ridicule Jeremy Corbyn is anybody’s guess.

The fact that he did this damned stupid thing in this damned stupid way – mocking the Labour leader’s ability to read an autocue – just makes it worse.

And the icing on this poisonous cake is the fact that Mr Corbyn represents policies that Mr Fitzpatrick seems to support.

It’s as though our MPs have been taking lessons in crass stupidity.

In the wake of a horrific murder of a US citizen in central London on 3 August, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn respectfully offered his sympathy to her family. But for one Labour MP, this seemed like the perfect time to take a dig.

Jim Fitzpatrick, who served as a minister under both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, published the following jibe on Twitter:

“Pity Jeremy’s team didn’t teach him how to use both autocue screens.”

Fitzpatrick thinks greater union involvement in the Labour Party is a good thing, and he supports a more peaceful or moderate foreign policy position… Why has he now decided to make desperate and embarrassing public criticisms of Jeremy Corbyn – the man who represents both unions and peace abroad?

    Hey Mr Fitzpatrick!
I rather enjoy hearing someone speak his own words (especially an MP), rather than relying on somebody else’s script!
By reading from a machine you lose the words from the heart, the very words that ‘make’ people who they are!

The man is a prat, and for Tony Blair and Gordon Brown to say anything makes me feel sick

It’s every time any MP that was involved with Tony Blair opens their mouths do they have to Slight Mr Corbyn, I have never listened to a more genuine man who speaks with honesty and truth in my life, and all these threat that their going to leave and start their own party. I say get on with it but don’t expect to take anything with you,the sooner you leave and the sooner we can replace you with MP’s that are actually Labour supporters, not Tories wear a red suit,
