Liam Fox admits international trade will cost much more after Brexit – then tries to cover it up

Liam Fox (he's the one on the screen).

Liam Fox (he’s the one on the screen).

Again, Liam Fox puts his foot in it.

Already in trouble for trying to steal powers from Boris Johnson’s Foreign Office, the Secretary of State for Brexit has now admitted that leaving the EU means international trade will cost a lot more money that it did previously.

He has now managed to get the offending press release deleted but the damage has been done.

Labour’s Chuka Umunna – and how nice it is to have something complimentary to say about him! – went on the attack on Twitter.

He wrote: “Leave campaigners promised repeatedly we would get a free trade agreement with the EU – now Fox seems to admit this will not be achievable.

“Trading with the EU under WTO rules would be a hammer blow for the economy, and would demonstrate the hollow nature of Vote Leave’s promises.

“Fox’s WTO strategy would devastate vital export industries, like car manufacturing, and lead to higher prices in the shops for families.

“To put Liam Fox’s announcement today in context – trading under WTO rules with the EU means 10% levy on cars, 12% on clothes and more. Crazy.”

How long before this corrupt incompetent gets fired a second time?

On Friday morning the Department for International Trade published a press release by the disgraced Liam Fox in effect saying the UK would leave the EU Single Market.

The press release said the UK would seek to trade with the EU under WTO rules.

Here was the key paragraph from that release:

If the UK does exit the European Single Market, it will be governed by World Trade Organization (WTO) rules until any new trade deals are negotiated. We’ll remain a competitive player on the global stage because all major economies and most minor ones are members of the WTO. The WTO requires each member to charge the others the same tariffs and grant them ‘most favoured nation’ market access.

This is exactly what this clown and his fellow Brexiteers denied only a few weeks ago. Sounds to me as if Fox needs to resign in order to spend more time with Werritty.

they all had there shiny red bus and there manifesto for brexit, so they have to keep to it, or is it going to be known as the bus of ill-repute, full of lies and broken promises that they know they could not keep, who is going to suffer the most because of this incompetent lot,it certainly is not them, we need a overhaul of parliamentary regulations to bring in more accountability, acceptance of responsibility and a total overhaul of parliamentary privilege so that when a mp makes a mistake, they should be in the position of knowing that they can face prosecution and do time for the error of judgement, then they may think twice before doing stupid things!!!
