This seems good news, but keep your wits about you; this kind of story usually appears right before an agreement is announced.

The free trade negotiations between the European Union and the United States have failed, but “nobody is really admitting it”, Germany’s Vice-Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel has said.

Talks over the so-called Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, also known as TTIP, have made little progress in recent years.

The 14th round of negotiations between American and EU officials took place in Brussels in July. It was the third round in six months.

He said that during the talks neither side had agreed on a single common chapter out of the 27 being deliberated.

He further denounced the TTIP negotiations, saying the free trade deal proposed between the EU and Canada – the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) – was fairer for all parties.

Critics say one of the main concerns with TTIP is that it could allow multinational corporations to effectively “sue” governments for taking actions that might damage their businesses.

It was interesting that chemical companies, Bayer and friends, were to sue the EU Commission for imposing a ban on their neonics chemicals that were depopulating the important bees and insects. This example actually shows the mentality and dangers of these alliances to do just about anything with total immunity irrespective of the scientific cautions. Obviously these Companies hopefully test their products in the field but maybe were picky with the total real truth because of the threat to their profit …not the threat to nature. Commerce does not dictate to the world ….. however this Alliance would be a big step to achieving world domination if the dummies let them get away with it. This was my MPs response to the bee ban which was probably a party line……”The Government has recently put in place the National Pollinator Strategy. This means that normally restricted products can be authorised in emergency situations to protect crops. If emergency authorisation is granted, this does not mean that the ban has been lifted: the facility to allow strictly controlled, targeted uses of pesticides under an emergency authorisation is an essential feature of precautionary bans. These decisions are taken based on recommendations from the Expert Committee on Pesticides, the independent body of scientists that advises the Government. It takes all environmental factors into account, including the effects of using greater quantities of less effective alternative pesticides” Maybe I’m cynical but I draw no comfort from this statement, as per the fracking political responses, especially when I read this decision is in the hands of “expert” committees who are allegedly independent bodies and later found to be composed of commercial implants some of whom are compromised by their personal relationships with Chemical, Pharma and commercial interests. We will watch this space.
