Cameron ‘to earn £1.5m from memoirs’? Good money for bad rubbish, I say

How sad for David Cameron that he can’t command a similar price to Tony Blair because he isn’t as popular in the United States and has been damaged by Brexit.

And why wait nine months for a chronicle of his prime ministerial career? I could put together a pretty good analysis, just by stringing old Vox Political articles together.

Actually, that’s not a bad idea…

The fact he intends to make 50 grand an hour doing after-dinner speeches is amazing.

Judging from his PMQs performances, I’ve heard whoopee cushions that could provide better value for money and more enjoyable entertainment.

David Cameron is expected to net £1.5m for his memoirs on his time in Downing Street.

The former prime minister is reportedly due to send the synopsis of his book to publishers later this week.

His agent, Ed Victor, was initially thought to be looking for £4m for the book – to match the price paid for previous prime minister’s memoirs such as Tony Blair’s which went for £4.6m in 2007 and the £3.5m for Margaret Thatcher’s in 1993.

But The Sunday Times reported Mr Victor is now looking at a far more conservative figure after acknowledging that the publishers involved in the negotiation over Mr Blair and Ms Thatcher’s memoirs had interest from the US where Mr Cameron is less well known.

He has also become predominantly associated with the Brexit vote and this has cast a shadow over his previous six years in office.

Several publishers are already believed to have dropped out of the race with Viking and Macmillan said to be the frontrunners.

The politician, who also stood down as MP for Witney last week, has reportedly told friends he plans to spend much of the next nine months writing the book with an ideal publication date of Autumn 2017.

But all is not lost if the 49-year-old still wants to make money as he is also reportedly said to be planning to earn around £50,000 per hour as an after dinner speaker.

With all the cuts and Stupid changes to education, it is a wonder anyone will be literate enough to read it.
Also, who would be gullible enough to believe, he actually had anything to do with writing it, the person who did in fact write it, should be seeking intense CBT to get over the trauma!!!
It would be interesting to know the pittance the ghostwriter was paid! Maybe it was a workfare thing!

Nobody has been paid any money at all, yet! They’re still negotiating with Mr Cameron and not one word has been written.

Ha!! Cool, thanks Mike you have brightened my day! I don’t usually wish ill-will to anyone, except those that decimate other decent people’s lives.

Nothing of note? Tell that to the millions whose lives (those who still have them) are in turmoil, because of him!

Any excuse to make money, both on his part and that of the publishers.

Cameron will only be remembered for one thing. The completely incompetent and unnecessary EU referendum and the total mess he made of it. I suspect it will go down in the history books as one of the biggest foreign policy blunders ever.

Wouldn’t bother paying any money for blair of camaroons memoirs, they could both have called them how to be a selfish bar steward with no thought for the populace.

Good title! Though won’t he have to pay to get it published in the first place?

Grotesque! He was employed by us so (as is often the case when an actor obtains work from a contact that was made via a previous agent), as his previous employer, he should pay us a commission on any monies that he receives as a result of his Prime Ministerial activities and I’m not talking income tax, that is a separate issue.
