Scottish Labour calls on conference to back bid for more autonomy. Why should it?

If Scottish Labour wants more freedom from the rest of the UK Labour Party, why should it be granted a new seat on the National Executive Committee?

The two things are mutually exclusive.

You know This Writer’s opinion – the NEC has only given seats to Welsh Labour and Scottish Labour representatives because opponents of Jeremy Corbyn know Carwyn Jones and Kezia Dugdale will send representatives who also oppose Mr Corbyn – no matter what the party memberships in Wales and Scotland want.

That’s why I’ve said there should be elections for the positions.

In Scotland’s case, it is even more important that this should happen, if the party there wants more autonomy.

Ms Dugdale will be checked by a representative telling her what Scottish Labour really wants.

Labour’s national conference will be asked to approve plans for the Scottish wing of the party to have full control over its policy and candidate selection, after years of tension with leaders in London.

Labour’s national executive committee agreed late on Tuesday to give Scottish Labour full policymaking autonomy, including control over the selection of Westminster candidates and its constituency parties, while still being funded by the wider party.

Absolutely agree Mike . Full autonomy for Scottish Labour, and no seat on the NEC except maybe as a fraternal delegate with no vote. Though I suspect this is not what you meant ☺

Dugdale is not well liked here in Scotland she is in my opinion a Blairite she without a doubt voted for Smithy the Stooge, I am about to make a sweeping statement if SNP lose power it will be a disaster for Scotland and the U.K. as it will never be Labour who form a Government it will be Scottish Conservatives who will do this, Labour in Scotland are on the verge of Total Collapse because their arrogance and hubris in believing it was them that knew best and never listened to the Eloctorate the Grassroots Rank and File, a few years ago this party could’ve put Sergei the Meerkat in and the wee Sergei would’ve won by a landslide, and they are also paying the price for standing with the Tories No Labour Politician Central or Council should ever stand with the Tories and assist them in Destroying The Welfare State and NHS the People’s Jewel, Watson, Smith, Eagle, the PLP, the NEC, Harman, Benn, Hunt, Ummuna, et al are going down the exact same path they are so full of their own importance they believe they can do whatever they want say whatever want with impunity it’s time to show these arrogant Blairite Lying Bastards that They Cannot.

Labour has never stood with the Tories.
Labour has never helped the Tories destroy the Welfare State.
Labour has never helped the Tories destroy the NHS.

Apart from those glaring factual errors – interesting comment.
