Will the Tory conference see the party’s final implosion over Brexit?

Stock up on popcorn and install yourselves in front of the television, folks – I’m here to tell you to Conservative Party Conference is likely to be more gripping than your favourite soap opera.

Already Ken Clarke has attacked not only ineffective unelected prime minister Theresa May but also the “three Brexiteers” – David Davis, Liam Fox and Boris Johnson.

‘Thicky’ Nicky Morgan has demanded that Mrs May’s plan for exiting the EU must be made public as soon as possible.

And didn’t Anna Soubry denounce Liam Fox as “delusional”?

Theresa May is running a “government with no policies”, a former Conservative Chancellor has said in the first major attack on the new Prime Minister.

Ken Clarke, the MP for Rushcliffe, claimed “nobody” in the government has a plan to get Britain out of the EU.

In an interview with the New Statesman, Mr Clarke also revealed he would vote against Brexit in the House of Commons.

The Remain campaigner said: “Nobody in the government has the first idea of what they’re going to do next on the Brexit front.”

He also hit out at the  ‘Three Brexiteers’ , Boris Johnson, David Davis and Liam Fox, suggesting they were unable to work together.

He added: “Whatever is negotiated will be denounced by the ultra-Eurosceptics as a betrayal… Theresa May has had the misfortune of taking over at the most impossible time. She faces an appalling problem of trying to get these ‘Three Brexiteers’ to agree.”

He added that David Cameron’s decision to hold a referendum on the EU will see him “go down in history as the man who made the mistake of taking us out of the European Union”.

Nicky Morgan, the former Education Secretary, told Radio 4 … that Mrs May needs to set out the Government’s plan for Brexit as soon as possible.

… Yes! Yes, she did!

In the run-up to the Conservative party conference in Birmingham this weekend, Anna Soubry reserved particular criticism for [Liam] Fox, branding his speech on free trade in Manchester on Thursday “delusional”.

“Liam Fox’s speech this week was very worrying; in fact, it was delusional,” she told the Guardian. “How can we have ‘freer’ free trade? Let’s get real, for God’s sake. It’s really worrying that these are the senior people who have the future of our country in their hands.”

But then, Ms Soubry did go on to describe Mrs May as the “voice of sanity”, so it seems we’re discussing degrees of “delusional” in the Conservative Party.

Hopefully, the whole sorry mess will be washed in public during the conference, leaving the Tories themselves to be hung out to dry as soon as possible.

I don’t think it will be the last rumble in the party’s everlasting civil war over Europe, but…

It should make great viewing!

Wish it would hurry up and implode completely.

Dinosaur politician repeats what he has been saying for decades and emotionally labile woman agrees shock. Both are delusional about the real cost of being in the eu to the UK, and blind as they refuse to see the advantages of brexit, perhaps they should both stand down as they seem to consider an unelected committee in brussels should govern the nation, as they consider elected politicians in Westminster, of which they are 2, incapable of the job.

Nobody in Brussels was unelected and none of them governs the UK. I wish you would stop repeating these lies as they weaken your case.

Why do Brexiteers never get their facts correct in respect of the EU institutions and procedures before making comments about them which are total falsehoods. There have been many graphics posted here on FB since June showing EXACTLY how EU decisions are taken and by whom. These deniars are guilty of throwing the baby out with the bathwater leaving UK poorer, looking foolish and going round in ever diminishing circles whilst singing Rule Brittania.

I’m beginning to wonder if the tories would like to hold an election soon, and lose, just so they can get out of the firing line over Brexit, and be able to blame Labour should things go awry.
    But perhaps I’m delusional too…
