Your chance to help film-makers reveal the Nature of the Beast (of Bolsover)

161018-dennis-skinner-nature-of-the-beast-filmDid you know a film is being made about Labour’s legendary Dennis Skinner?

Did you know you could help get it finished?

For the last two years, Director/Producer Daniel Draper and a small but committed team have been filming and editing a feature-length documentary about Dennis Skinner – the Beast of Bolsover whose Parliamentary savagings of leading Conservatives have cheered us all during the last six grim years of Tory ascendance, and for many years previously.

The group has finished filming and is now putting the final touches to the film. You can watch its first teaser trailer here.

Here’s the catch: The film-makers have been forced to resort to crowdfunding site Kickstarter in order to get the movie finished – a “posh form of begging”, as Mr Draper describes it.

When they launched the appeal, they needed £18,000. Now they need less than £1,000.

The money will pay for unavoidable post-production costs – archive images and footage, an original soundtrack, sound design and film festival entry fees.

Filming was completed thanks to kind donations from the NUM, various union branches and members of the public. None of the money raised will be going to anything other than the costs of getting the film completed – all of the crew have volunteered their time, equipment and expertise.

If you want to find out more, you can visit the Facebook page and Twitter page (useful for updates).

The Kickstarter page is here.

This Writer has already donated – and if you donate, you could receive one of the rewards on offer. A £5 “solidarity contribution” earns a message of thanks on the film’s website; £10 and you get a credit on the film; £20 earns you a link to the completed film (to be watched within a set time) along with the credit. The list goes on from there.

I want to see this film. I think you might want to see it too. The project will only be funded if at least £18,000 is pledged by .

Let’s make sure that happens.
