These are damning words from the respected TV presenter and interviewer.

They are all the worse for Conservatives because Mr Paxman defines himself as an “old-fashioned Tory” – or at least he did.

Recently he has been saying the only differences between people are of opportunity, which is a socialist philosophy if ever This Writer saw one.

Perhaps it took David Cameron to show Mr Paxman the faults of modern Conservatism. It seems unlikely that Mrs May will change his mind back again.

Jeremy Paxman laid into “pretty terrible prime minister” David Cameron in a late-night television appearance – blasting his EU referendum record as “well-nigh unforgivable”.

The acerbic ex-Newsnight presenter took aim at the former PM, saying he put the Conservative Party ahead of the UK.

Mr Paxman, 66, well known for his no-nonsense approach to interviews, shared his damning indictment of Mr Cameron on Irish broadcaster RTE One’s The Late Late Show on Friday.

He told the host Ryan Tubridy: “I’m not a great fan of Cameron, actually, if you really want to know. I think he probably knew that.

“You look at the Brexit referendum – what Cameron did was to put the interests of his party above the interests of his country and that seems to me to be well-nigh unforgivable.

“He put the whole question of the country’s identity up for grabs in a referendum and then didn’t even bother to make the case for staying in Europe.

“So I think he’s got quite a lot on his conscience, I think he’s been a pretty terrible prime minister actually.”

This is something we all knew, but it’s good that a ‘respected’ celebrity has stood up and acknowledged it.

I would go further and suggest that Cameron was putting his own personal career before the interests of the nation. However, that is strong stuff from Paxman who is a died-in-the-wool Tory supporter.

The Calais refugee camp’s slow dismantlement continues, but the controversy is unlikely to diminish. And on ITV’s The Agenda last night, UKIP leadership contender Diane James got it in the neck for her insistence that incomers from the camp should face stricter age checks. Jeremy Paxman boomed at her “Do you have no compassion?”

Cameron is a Moron: the whole of his special team in the government were and are still Morons of the nastiest order. But there are still so many people out there who are still so happy to pay him well to employ him and pay him well just to hear him speak, for crying out loud. Even now: after the total lash up they all made and continue to thrash around in. There are extraordinary agendas at work here in this country (and elsewhere of course) that are simply not compatible with equality of opportunity or advancement and simply have no place in a so called civilised and so called democratic society and yet I see on a daily basis so many ordinary, decent, simple, hardworking folk constantly taken in and endlessly deceived by this never ending stream of conservative bile and bulls**t. The measure of State Control now is so powerful and permeates at such subtle levels that if people are unable to see beyond the lies and deceit it is difficult to see how on earth can they ever be persuaded to somehow shift their perspective. People have been drugged into a stupor for decades on a wicked ideology that worships ‘SELF”.
