Will Dakota pipeline protesters need protection from racial supremacists after Trump’s victory?

The Native Americans on the Standing Rock reservation may be descended from the land’s original inhabitants, but that seems unlikely to make an impression on Donald Trump – or his supporters.
Already we have heard accounts of incidents in which people belonging to minority groups have been told to “get out of our country” (their country?) by people who seem to believe in white supremacy.
Why should the Native Americans escape the same fate?
And, if Donald Trump demands the completion of the pipeline, despite the arguments against it, won’t he be playing into the hands of the racists?
Won’t he be either endorsing their behaviour or, at the very least, giving them an excuse to justify it?
Think on it, America.
The surprising victory by Native American and environmental groups in September to delay the Dakota Access Pipeline may turn out to be short-lived, after Donald Trump’s unexpected win in the U.S. presidential election.
Trump backs measures to speed energy industry development and upgrade the country’s oil and gas infrastructure. He has not commented specifically on the $3.7 billion Dakota Access line but has said he would seek to revive another controversial pipeline, the Keystone XL line. That project, which would pump oil from Canada through Nebraska, was rejected in 2014 by the Obama administration.
The 1,172-mile (1,885 km) line was planned to run from North Dakota’s Bakken shale region to Illinois, but protests from environmental activists and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe of North Dakota galvanized the Obama administration to delay construction to ensure Native American concerns about the line’s route were properly addressed.
One day after Trump’s victory, Standing Rock Sioux Chairman Dave Archambault II said the results show “that we as a country have so much work to do.” He did not mention Trump in his statement to Reuters, instead saying President Barack Obama could still halt the pipeline.
“We must strengthen our resolve to protect the water, pray together for understanding, and pour our hearts and minds into the future of all our children,” he said.
It is not clear now whether Dakota Access would be rerouted or piped under the sensitive watershed, which the tribe considers sacred.

Anyone would think only rednecks for the deep south voted for trump if you believe all the Hilary supporters claims, which is far from the truth, a but like the remains in the UK who pretend the intellectuals all voted to stay when the truth was it was the people who fear change who voted remain, it seems we are living in a post democratic world, maybe pulling the wall down in Berlin was not the step forwards that we all hoped.
What makes you think these comments about Donald Trump are only coming from supporters of Hillary Clinton?

It seems we really are living in a post-democratic world, when people can pass comments attributing behaviour to a named group of others without ever trying to show proof of it.
Even before trump won the election these people have had a rough deal right back to when the European’s took all there’s we even tried genocide on them.

I’m sure the KKK are emboldened and might want to get in on the Standing Rock act and go and intimidate the protesters there. Trump accepted their support, and they have even said they are in part responsible for his victory and are holding a victory march in a few weeks in N Carolina.

KKK is small but widespread. There are some in Colorado where my sister and her family lives. I can report that one of my sons who lives in New York with his S Korean born but American citizen wife, has friends who have been abused on the streets, even in NY which is one of the more liberal states.
As with Brexit here, the more halfwitted racists seem to think they now have permission to crawl out from under the rocks and behave like morons towards those who don’t look and sound like them. My son and DIL will be at tomorrow’s NY march and I’m hoping the police don’t get too liberal with the pepper spray!

It would seem that certain people, without definitive evidence “to support this claim” are blaming Trump for everything they perceive is wrong without actually even mentioning the monstrous activity of his opponent.
The people of Dakota were being threatened with false arrest, false imprisonment and were set upon by what passes for a police force long before Trump was POTUS – that would have been courtesy of Barack Obama.
If you require evidence to support this claim, just check out the back cover stories that I have been reading for the last month or go to the many Greenpeace/Save our planet /environmental sites and you will find the information, as I did.
Trump is not a nice man, but so far, he has not shown the tendency toward complete psycopathy that Clinton has manifested over the years.
I supported Bernie Sanders and still think he would have done a better job than either of the lesser of two evils, but I am intensely grateful that Clinton lost, so apparently were millions of US citizens who ranked Clinton as the devil incarnate. But what the hell? Let’s just continue to demonize Trump because that’s what everyone is doing these days – as per their master’s voice, which is of course the way he has been portrayed while Nazi Frau Clinton has been mysteriously overlooked.
