Shall we pencil in the Union of Jewish Students as one of Shai Masot’s “front” organisations for the Israeli government?
A senior official from the UK’s National Union of Students has been covertly filmed conspiring to oust the organisation’s president Malia Bouattia as part of a sting involving the Israeli embassy.
An undercover Al-Jazeera reporter – known only as Robin – posed as a political activist with links to the now disgraced Israeli diplomat Shai Masot to investigate the influence the Israeli embassy exerts on British politics.
“Robin” is heard discussing how to oust Bouattia from her position as NUS president with NUS Vice President Richard Brooks, after Masot introduces him as the Chairman of the Young Labour Friends of Israel.
In the secret recording, Brooks is filmed telling Robin that he accepted a trip to Israel funded by the Union of Jewish Students.

This must be extremely embarrassing for many very decent British Jews – I hope that people do not conflate the actions of these radicalised extremists with Jewry in Britain.

In the unlikely event that Mike Sivier let’s a comment challenging his narrative through: the UJS is far from extreme. And, since it was founded in 1919, it;’s difficult to see how it can be a front group for the Israeli government.
Far from extreme in your opinion, of course.
The date it was founded is no guide as it could quite merrily link up with the Israeli government at any point in the latter’s history.

Why has Mike not challenged this blatantly antisemitic comment?
It isn’t anti-Semitic.
It could be challenged on the basis of factual accuracy, by someone with those facts at their fingertips, but there’s no accusation against Jewish people simply because they are Jewish, therefore no anti-Semitism.
Jews have been falsely accused of warmongering, murder and dual loyalty for generations. The fact that Roland has said “Zionists” instead of “Jews” does not make the comment any less antisemitic.
He’s not accusing Jews; he’s accusing Zionists. There is a difference.
And you are very far out of order.
I’m not out of order at all. Most Jews ar Zionists and most Zinists are Jews. It is an antisemitic comment, and you should be ashamed of yourself for failing to recognise that.
You are well out of order. Zionists do not have to be Jews. In fact, I could say that your comment is anti-Semitic, as it suggests that all the evils of aggressive Zionism should be attributed to Jews.
