Join demonstrations across the nation – January 30, 2017 – against Trump’s #MuslimBan

Last Updated: January 29, 2017By

Demonstrations will take place across the UK during Monday, January 30, in protest at Donald Trump’s racist and bigoted ban on immigrants and refugees into the US from mainly Muslim countries.

Here are the details:

Tomorrow, Monday 30th January, there will be demonstrations nationwide against Trump’s Muslim Ban, and Theresa May’s refusal to condemn his actions.

Donald Trump has imposed a ban on people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the US and while Jeremy Corbyn was quick to call for the cancellation of Trump’s UK State visit, our Prime Minister, Theresa May, has failed to speak out to defend our values of humanity and compassion. It is a matter of national shame.

If you are in London, join us tomorrow at 6pm outside Downing Street to stand in solidarity with those affected by Donald Trump’s hateful government. For full details and to register for the event please click here.

There are demonstrations taking place all over the UK, find one near you from the list below.
Leeds l Edinburgh l Nottingham l Cambridge l Warwick l Cardiff l Brighton l Birmingham l Sheffield l Falmouth l Cheltenham l Glasgow l York l Preston, Lancashire  l Hastings l Bristol l Manchester

If there’s no demonstration near you, why not organise one with your local Momentum group and other campaign groups in your area?

What else can you do?

  1. SIGN THIS PETITION: Add your name to the hundreds of thousands who have signed this petition to demand the cancellation of Trump’s UK State visit.

  2. WRITE TO YOUR MP: If you have a Conservative MP, use this WriteToThem’s tool to lobby your representative and urge the Prime Minister to cancel the state visit and condemn Trump’s actions.

I deleted a couple of extra actions at the end that are more party-political than the rest. As you can tell, these demonstrations have been organised by the Labour-supporting organisation Momentum – but that doesn’t mean people who support other parties shouldn’t attend, if they feel strongly about the actions of Mr Trump – and the inaction of our own prime minister.

This Writer’s understanding is that Theresa May has asked Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and Home Secretary Amber Rudd to get in touch with their counterparts on Mr Trump’s staff and raise the issue of the travel ban with them.

But the BBC’s story suggests that this is purely for selfish reasons. Mr Johnson is asking for Britons with dual citizenship to be exempted from the ban, after it was revealed that fellow Tory MP Nadhim Zahawi will be barred from entering the States by Mr Trump’s executive order.

That’s not helping the people from the Middle East who Trump is trying to oppress.

As one Twitter user put it:

If you agree, please get to a demo near you.

Maybe if people actually found out the facts instead of the biased tweets that don’t come near to having the number of characters available to tell the full story they wouldn’t be making such crass statements.

Done that. Don’t know what you mean.

The petition is rapidly approaching a million signatures, but still May prostrates herself at Trump’s loathsome feet.
