Fake news alert: The Guardian wants you to think Labour is weak in Stoke

Last Updated: February 4, 2017By

Paul Nuttall outside the Ukip offices in Hanley, Stoke, during the party’s campaign for Stoke-on-Trent Central. Women Against UKIP have already emphasized his lack of credentials for representing the constituency with a mock English Heritage plaque pointing out that he “Never lived here” [Image: Simon Cooper/PA].

Look at this nonsense, from The Guardian:

Jeremy Corbyn’s team have informally explored the idea of collaborating with the Greens and Liberal Democrats in Stoke-on-Trent Central to keep Paul Nuttall, the Ukip leader, out of parliament.

Anyone reading that might think, “How weak of Labour! They need to rely on the other parties not turning up, in order to beat UKIP!”

There’s just one problem with that attitude: The story isn’t true.

The Graun actually quotes an official Labour Party statement denying the claim:

A Labour spokesperson said: “It’s untrue that Jeremy Corbyn’s team or the Labour Party have been exploring collaborating with other parties in the Stoke-on-Trent Central by election, informally or otherwise.”

The newspaper’s source is “a senior figure” in the Labour leader’s office – in other words, there isn’t one and the story has been made up.

The paper “understands” that Labour is asking the Lib Dems and Greens to tone down their campaigns; but it is also “understood” that no direct contact has taken place.

This is just a feeble, partisan attempt to harm the Labour Party’s chances in Stoke-on-Trent Central. One questions political editor Heather Stewart’s motives in writing it.

Whilst accepting that Hunt’s tenure, he wasn’t a local but parachuted in but he labour arty head office, was not one of the best, Stoke residents due to his failure to intervene in the removal of services from Stafford Hospital has lead to the worst waiting times in the nation at Stoke Hospital, because as we said and he opposed Stoke can’t cope. However it is a safe labour seat and no matter that it was one of the highest numbers of leave voters, they will not turn their back on the party for the local M.P. election.

Collaborating is almost certainly the best way to beat the Conservatives. If Labour are not considering it, then they are bloody idiots.
So what you seem to be reporting is that Labour are bloody idiots…
That is no more news, than the Pope being Catholic.

        This video you mean?

With almost 20,000 views and 331 comments… yes, that is an absolutely representative sample… almost 2% of the people that looked were moved enough to comment and of course all of those were staunch Labour supporters…

Would you like me to look out a report about bear bowel movements or are you happy to run with the “Labour Lefties blinded by blinkers”?

I’ve let this comment go on the page because if aggressive right-wingers like Dan really want to throw their weight around and make fools of themselves while doing so, they’ll do their cause more harm than the rest of us ever could.

As a resident in the Potteries I can say with conviction that Labour isn’t weak in Stoke. Just because the Brexit vote was high here doesn’t mean UKIP winning is a done deal, it isn’t. Take a look at the hundreds of comments that were written by the residents during the live stream campaign via Stoke Sentinel when Nigel Farage was there yesterday (Friday). The majority hate UKIP as they know they’re a mix of BNP and failed Tories under investigation for fraud ; https://www.facebook.com/sentinelstaffs

I think it is a good idea for radical political thinkers to come together in order to beat the thoroughly corrupt and dishonest Nuttall and UKIP.
