Revolting Tories will want to use the Article 50 vote to get a deal from Theresa May. On what?

It seems up to 27 Conservative MPs may vote down Theresa May’s Article 50 Bill next week, if they don’t see it amended to say what they want.

How interesting. Anybody thinking this is about Brexit would be very naïve, though.

I think they have realised there is an opportunity to make Theresa May squirm. She needs their support; Labour has indicated it may well vote to block the Bill and if enough Tories do the same, she’ll be in serious trouble.

So this would be the perfect time to negotiate a promise on other policies.

My bet is that these Tory backbenchers will cast aside their grievances when the time comes, saying Mrs May has given them the reassurances they wanted…

But not on Brexit.

Then we’ll all have to wait for Mrs May’s government to make a departure from its stated policies at a future date.

This may be difficult as it is hard to remember her government ever having any policies at all – other than to grovel before foreign powers and big business.

Theresa May is facing a Tory revolt this week aimed at stopping a ‘disastrous’ hard Brexit.

More than two dozen pro-Remain Conservative MPs could back a Labour move to give MPs the power to block Mrs May from walking away without a deal.

The Prime Minister has threatened to leave the negotiations with the 27 other EU leaders if she cannot get an agreement in the UK’s favour, saying “no deal is better than a bad deal.”

The Tory rebels could side with Labour, Lib Dem and SNP MPs by backing an amendment to the Article 50 Bill which would give Parliament the right to tell the Prime Minister to “step back from the brink” and get a better deal.

Pro-Remain Tory MP Neil Carmichael said it was “illogical” for the Prime Minister to offer MPs a vote on a final deal but not one if she fails to strike an agreement.

This is still all about internal Tory Party politics and they don’t mind holding the nation as a hostage to their internal nasty wrangling. They really are the loathsome party.

It’s the far right wing of the Tory party who want to kibosh us leaving, the centre and left of centre ones ar not against it.
