‘Jihadi’ remark shows Brexit might not prevent Tory Party split after all

Claire Perry MP.

The arguments are getting a bit ragged on both sides now, aren’t they?

The joy of this is that a Conservative MP just compared her Brexit-backing Tory colleagues with “jihadis”.

Does this mean taking us all out of Europe won’t stop the long-awaited Euro-centred Tory Party split after all?

A Tory MP has compared Hard Brexit backers to “jihadis” in the middle of a House of Commons debate.

Colleagues visibly winced as ex-minister Claire Perry made the alarming comparison while she discussed triggering Article 50.

She said: “I have to say that the tone of this debate… sometimes borders on the hysterical.

“I feel sometimes I am sitting along with colleagues who are like jihadis in their support for a Hard Brexit . ‘No Brexit is hard enough! Begone, you evil Europeans, we never want you to darken our doors again!’”

Amazing lack of media coverage on Tory Brexit dissention; media always seems to cover any lack of unity of Labour Party and JCs alleged failings. Thanks for trying to redress the balance Mike.

She is a bit late waking up to reality. Did she vote for or against the motion to trigger Article 50?
