Brexit will wipe UK out of history: It will no longer be the UK

Last Updated: February 9, 2017By

The underlying condition of the constitutional order – whose malaise makes the Brexit debacle possible – could see the United Kingdom exit not just from the EU but from existence.

The EU referendum was promised by David Cameron to spike the guns of the Tory right-wing, and to prevent the loss of votes to UKIP in some constituencies. It was entirely an internal Conservative Party matter.

Scotland and Northern Ireland have every reason to refuse to be dragged into the morass of negative consequences into which English right-wing Tories and English tabloid newspapers and English xenophobia are plunging us.

The nasty party really doesn’t care that it will drag the whole country down. We are being governed by liars, thieves and corrupt fraudsters.

Whatever do you mean by that? If you have a point to make, please make it, rather than sending in generalised statements that don’t mean anything.

Thank you for posting Grayling’s incisive and cogent analysis of the Brexit fiasco. It should be compulsory reading for every MP and indeed every citizen. Although with a few honourable exceptions MPs must shoulder the blame for the most asinine decision ever made by our parliament, the underlying xenophobia and nationalism that fuelled the Europhobic sentiment has long festered. We must bear collectivery responsibility for it and, culturally and economically, we shall be collectively punished for it for the foreseeable future. England & Wales are destined to become a second class nation with values that fall disgracefully below civilised standards.
