Sorry, mainstream media, but Donald Trump is NOT right about a terrorist attack in Sweden

Last Updated: February 20, 2017By

Donald Trump speaking at the rally in Melbourne, Florida, where he invented a non-existent refugee incident in Sweden.

Ye Gods, this one is desperate. The Independent reckons Donald Trump was right about there being a terror attack in Sweden.

Unfortunately, the claim is inaccurate on several levels.

Firstly, Mr Trump said an incident took place in Sweden on Friday night, whereas the incident cited by the Indy happened last month.

Secondly, Herr Drump’s point was that immigrants were responsible for the attacks: “We’ve got to keep our country safe… Sweden, who would believe this? Sweden. They took in large numbers. They’re having problems like they never thought possible.”

But the attack mentioned by the Indy was against immigrants at a Gothenburg Asylum centre, and was carried out by suspected neo-Nazis – members of the Nordic Resistance Movement (NMR), a group that openly promotes racist and anti-Semitic views and has vocally opposed non-white immigration to the country.

So there is no way this attack can be related to Donald Trump’s speech. The Indy report may therefore be seen as an attempt to “normalise” him and his behaviour.

And we all know – don’t we? – the last thing we could do about Donald Trump is claim he’s normal.

I read it as the Indy saying Trump was seriously wrong and not trying to normalise him.

The reporting is dead straight and the claim is in the headline: “Donald Trump is right.”

I think lies are so much part of Trump’s life, he doesn’t know the difference between true and false.
