More right-wing spin: If Copeland was a ‘safe seat’, what about Richmond, which the Tories lost?

Last Updated: February 28, 2017By

The Tories had a 23,000 majority in Richmond and lost it to the Liberal Democrats. Labour’s majority in Copeland was less than 3,000 when it was lost to the Tories last week.

The infographic above is correct.

The debate should have been about when Theresa May will be ejected as Tory leader, not about Jeremy Corbyn at all.

Perhaps our biased news media could explain this?

As far back as I can remember it has always been the same. With the British media in the hands of hard-line right wingers will it ever be any different?

I remember when jeremy corbyn left his house the morning after the vote of no confident, the news reporters were hounding Mr corbyn shouting “are you resigning” and “will you step down!” The main stream media are desperate for labour to get another “centre right leader to stich us up.

Lost to a very pro-European Liberal Democrat, Mike.

The tories did not contest the seat Goldsmith having stepped down to contest the seat to stop the heathrow runway stood as an independent, a well known europhile he lost the seat, the electorate seemed to go for the lib dems as the next most right wing party rather than risk having an independent.

That’s a very… interesting way of interpreting it!

There is worse to come the Tories want him out and the Blairits also, there is big money and foreign countries with there hands in it, The media is going to attack with every thing they can, all because Jeremy Wants the best for the country and its people and peace with all countries, The warmongers and bankers will loose money and don’t care a toss about the people or the country

Your biased report doesn’t mention that Richmond was a Lib Dem seat until 2010, when Zac Goldsmith won it, and that he lost after standing as an independent.
The Conservatives couldn’t have won that seat since they didn’t field a candidate.

Copeland had been a Labour seat since 1935 and it is the first time in 35 years that a governing party has won a seat at a by-election. Sorry, but more fake news from the left – time to wake up and realise a general election is coming, and that Labour under Corbyn faces wipeout.

I’ve mentioned Richmond’s circumstances before. It was a safe seat, in that Mr Goldsmith had taken it in 2010 and increased his majority massively in 2015. Copeland was never a safe seat because the majority was always very low. These are details that have been explained many times now. I wonder why you are trying to distort the facts.
