Conservatives have created more debt than all Labour governments combined, Corbyn tells the world

Last Updated: March 1, 2017By

Of course, here on the social media – where the facts are supreme – some of us have been trying hard to raise awareness that the Tories have nearly tripled the national debt.

One Conservative MP – Daniel Kawczynski – managed to shoot himself – and his party – in the foot last month when he tried to claim Labour were responsible for creating huge debt – but instead tweeted evidence that damned his own party.

And now Theresa May has hobbled her own party by giving Jeremy Corbyn the opportunity to make the same point in Prime Minister’s Questions – the most widely-reported part of the UK’s political week.

Of course the mass media will have buried this – so it’s up to us to share it with everyone we know. Please do.

At Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) on 1 March, the Labour leader exposed the con that the Conservatives borrow less than Labour.

Theresa May was repeating her usual irrelevant platitudes: “If you are going to be able to provide treatment for people with mental health conditions, you need to have the strong economy that enables us to pay for it. The one thing we know about Labour is that they would bankrupt Britain.”

But in response, Corbyn put that myth to bed: “Coming from a government that, by 2020, will have borrowed more and increased the national debt by the total borrowing of all Labour governments, that comes rich.”

When a Labour Government is in power the national debt is treated by the right wing media as an impending catastrophe, but when a Tory Government is in power a debt three times the size is hardly commented upon by them.

But of course, the debt is £abour’s fault! This is the story that we’ve been hearing for the last… it has been so long, now, that I can’t actually remember, as I read, in an article, some years since; the Tories aren’t sorting out £abour’s mess but returning to their own.

It is extremely concerning that the Cons debt pile is so huge with loads more should and if the interest rate ever increase….no wonder they are screwing every way possible to claw income from all sources and slashing service costs. About time they put out a truthful statement as to exactly what real financial mess the UK really is in………….which is why it will never happen as they are total strangers to the truth.

When Gordon “I saved the world” Brown bailed out the banks he did it by recapitalising and becoming major shareholders in the banks concerned. The taxpayer liabilities for the continuing bad debts is still an eye watering sum which adds to our national debt every year. Iceland, in contrast, took their banks into administration and their economy recovered rapidly. Brown also dreamt up something called PFI, which enabled the government to borrow, off balance sheet. The debt ensuing for this is virtually bankrupting the NHS and anything the private companies involved, got their hands on. He also dreamt up, tax credits, pension credits etc etc which pushed the wages companies could offer down, down, down, knowing that the UK taxpayer was bound in law to pay the balance for it to become a living wage. The Conservatives have been hampered all the way and I am not going to say they have made a good job of it, they haven’t, but tell it like it is.

Brown was NOT responsible for PFI. Please don’t try to get us to accept your lie by wrapping it up with a fact.
PFI was a John Major development.
Tax credits weren’t a fantastically good idea because they do push the burden of topping up wages onto the public purse, but you’ll notice the Conservatives have done nothing to change that system in seven years in office. This is because they will only do so when there is no possibility of any pressure to make employers pay a living wage.
Tories want the poor to work for nothing, until they die, to make huge amounts of money for the obscenely rich.
      Tell it like it is.
