Tories caught in awkward contradiction as Corbyn reveals May campaigned to end hospital parking charges

Last Updated: May 8, 2017By

Awkward: Theresa May’s ‘team’ can’t even be “strong and stable” about car parking.

… But only in her own constituency – and she failed!

Now, after Jeremy Corbyn has vowed that a Labour government would end car parking charges at all English hospitals, the Conservatives are saying it can’t be done:

Theresa May campaigned to end hospital car parking fees – despite attacking Labour for announcing the same policy today.

Labour promised today to make car parking free at NHS hospitals in England, for patients, visitors and staff.

The Tory leader [had] said she was “strongly opposed” to the introduction of parking charges at St Marks Hospital, in her Maidenhead constituency.

She promised to “continue to work towards the abolition of these unhelpful charges.”

But a Conservative spokesman attacked the plan, saying the pledge was “not worth the paper it was printed on.”

Here’s Mr Corbyn’s immediate – and entirely appropriate – response:

Strong and stable? These Tories can’t even make up their minds about car parking!

But I’ll tell you what: Nothing the Tories say will matter if we all vote Labour on June 8.

Why would I be jealous of Skwawkbox? I’m proud of what Steve Walker has achieved.
