Because of Tory incompetence, the NHS has been held to ransom by criminals

He’s right.
The English healthcare system is being held to ransom by criminals – because the Conservatives refused to do what was needed.
And let us be clear on this: They didn’t forget to renew their protection; they didn’t make a mistake.
They deliberately decided to leave the NHS in England open to cyberattack.
That is Conservative government for you.

I am supposed to receive my prescriptions which includes 2000mg Metformin, 750gm Venlafaxine (antidepressant) and others per day, at 9 or 10 in the morning weekly, I have been told that I now will not get it until 3-4pm missing out two doses of medication.
I was told last week they (Lloyd’s pharmacy) didn’t have it, I rang the surgery and was told I would have to wait 48 hours, the week before, they had it at 11am but I couldn’t go and pick it up until 4pm. I go through the same anxiety every single week and it is wearing me down on top of everything this government has done which has left me with nothing!!
It’s not only government incompetence, Mike, it’s deliberate. The main points of neo-liberalism include:
CUTTING PUBLIC EXPENDITURE FOR SOCIAL SERVICES like education and health care. REDUCING THE SAFETY-NET FOR THE POOR, and even maintenance of roads, bridges, water supply — again in the name of reducing government’s role. Of course, they don’t oppose government subsidies and tax benefits for business.

Microsoft stopped updating security for xp some time ago, and other than the Home Office which seems to get its IT right, the government record is abysmal, for paying out a fortune on software that when it is rolled out fails miserably, however it isn’t only our lot this time over 100 nations have been hit by this attack, with software that seems to have originated in the US security department.

Was it incompetence, or was it deliberate? The Tories are nothing more than a bunch of slick fraudsters and I wouldn’t put anything past them.
It’s the old, old blind spot in Tory ideology. They wants ‘small Government’, so anything that reduces the Government is, ipso facto, a good thing. They never pause to consider that one of the important roles of Government is anticipation and prevention of problems. Sure, it doesn’t always get it right, but better that than leaving it entirely to chance.
So, the Government decides to cut £5.5 million from the IT bill to make a saving. A cyber-attack hits the NHS, and the ultimate price of this could run into hundreds of millions through all the knock-on effects the security breaches could lead to, and the enormous panic and expense of trying to clean up the mess.
Now, I have to make clear that the problem of hospitals still using old versions of Windows does not appear to have its roots in the present Government; Windows XP systems should have all been replaced by around 2006, so the last Labour Government is guilty of serious oversights as well. But any chance there was of the NHS getting around to replacing the old Operating Systems subsequently went out of the window as soon as Austerity began. This is yet another demonstration of the Tory false economy.
The NHS IT systems hacking looks like a collective act by smart school boys(from any country in the world) who are trying to show the world how clever they are!(Mature people know the value of our NHS).
