Corbyn joins calls for Theresa May to resign over her cuts to police numbers

Last Updated: June 5, 2017By

Jeremy Corbyn has called on Theresa May to resign as Prime Minister over her record on cuts to police numbers.

He said he was joining his voice to those of others in responsible positions who have voiced concerns about her record.

He told ITV: “There’s been calls made by a lot of very responsible people on this who are very worried that she was at the Home Office for all this time, presided over these cuts in police numbers and is now saying that we have a problem – yes, we do have a problem, we should never have cut the police numbers.”

Among the others calling for Mrs May to go is Steve Hilton, David Cameron’s former advisor. He said: “Theresa May responsible for security failures of London Bridge, Manchester, Westminster Bridge. Should be resigning not seeking re-election.”

This Writer agrees with both of them.

Mrs May deliberately chose to make the UK vulnerable to terrorist attack. It is possible that she has supplied weapons and funds to countries that support the terrorist organisations that have attacked us.

The first duty of any UK government is to protect its citizens. Mrs May has failed in that duty.

It doesn’t matter that there are only three days until a general election. Her choice is clear. She must step down.

She also called a question about the proposed closing of Huddersfiel Hospital’s A&E at a meeting in Huddersfield “scaremongering”. She has the imagination of a Nazi camp guard, i.e. none.

That should be her campaign slogan “Teresa may, scaremongering for a weak and wobbly future”

Hopefully she will be gone soon anyway.

Finally, I caught up with the Battle For No. 10, on which, when questioned about this, Theresa May said “it’s not about numbers” and cited deployment yet it seems that she is now calling for more police officers. Either her policy is poo and isn’t working (clearly), or… she got it wrong and her policy is poo and isn’t working.
