Man who lost marginal seat after writing book on how to win marginals is May’s new chief of staff

Cue derisive laughter.

If anything signals Theresa May’s utter failure to make any good decisions, it is the fact that she has replaced her two useless advisors Nick Timothy and Fiona Hill with one who is so bad that – after writing a book on how to win an election in a marginal constituency – he couldn’t win an election in a marginal constituency.

What is his advice going to be worth?

Barwell is the man who – as a housing minister – misdirected the public to believe that Labour had been responsible for the lowest house-building rates since the 1920s. In fact, that nadir was reached by the Conservative-Liberal Democrat Coalition in 2012-13, after George Osborne slashed investment by 60 per cent.

So when Mrs May said of Mr Barwell, “He has been a first-class minister and is widely respected,” she was completely wrong in the first instance and also wrong in the second, as far as This Writer is concerned.

He also used new powers, passed by the Tories, to stop development plans in Bradford, despite those plans having won public approval – because Shipley MP Philip Davies doesn’t like them. The action signalled that the Tories would stop any plan they don’t like – as favours to each other.

At the time, This Site stated that it showed the Tories were following in the footsteps of the Nazis, of whom Martin Luther King famously said that everything they did was legal – meaning it still wasn’t right.

With Mr Barwell advising Mrs May, expect very little of anything that can be called ‘right’ (apart from right-wing, of course) – and a whole lot of wrong.

She was elected as the new MP for Tatton on Thursday, so I don’t think she could have done it.

I think your views about Gavin Barwell must be shared by some in the Conservative Party. During an interview on the BBC today a Conservative Party member/spokesman said he thought Barwell would provide a reassuring presence in No 10. The interviewer simply asked: “how”. There followed a deathly silence for several seconds.

Yes saw that pukey interview ….. the only thing he had going for him was his obviously subservience to wonder woman and all she has screwed up. God knows who picked him as an advisor, but great choice, as he is obviously a yes man through and through and hopefully should terminate her political longevity much sooner than expected. Now Mike has reminded me of his past claims to fame and lies makes him a doubly great choice for her ….. tailor made in fact.

May obviously ( in my opinion ) hasn’t heard of, or doesn’t believe in the saying”when in a hole stop digging”. Hope she keeps digging.

What was this weird looking character’s secret for winning in marginal seats? Cheating on expenses perhaps?
