Tory nightmare: May could be ousted TOMORROW – and the Tories have nobody to replace her

Last Updated: June 11, 2017By

Will Theresa May be shown the (back) door by members of her own Conservative party?

As with comedy, the secret to great politics is timing. That’s why this announcement is so important:

If you’re not sure why that’s important, read this:

Is it all becoming clear now?

In an article headlined Theresa May faces meeting with backbench Tory MPs tomorrow that could decide her fateThe Independent clarifies still further:

Theresa May’s fate could be decided as early as tomorrow, after a showdown meeting with her backbenchers was brought forward.

As support drains away from Ms May, amid reports of a Cabinet plot to replace her, it sets the scene for her having to convince MPs face-to-face that she deserves to survive in No 10.

The problem for the Conservatives is compounded by the fact that nobody who could replace Mrs May can even match her tarnished popularity – they would all lose support for their party:

Exactly. They have nothing.

It’s possible the 1922 Committee meeting is being moved forward to stop the Conservative Party from having to enter any formal arrangement with the DUP, as this would make the Conservatives even more unpopular.

But that would leave them with no chance of forming a government at all – unless the Liberal Democrats offer a confidence-and-supply deal that would make that party electoral poison forever. Tim Farron would be insane.

No wonder Jeremy Corbyn was smiling on Andrew Marr’s show this morning.

Looks very much as though she is going to be stabbed in the front. If it were not so serious for the whole country it would be an absolutely hilarious joke. I just love seeing these nasty Tories, who think they have a god-given right to rule, fighting among themselves and stabbing each other. Wonder who will be their third unpopular leader in the space of 12 months? Brian Rix’s farces had nothing on this farce.

I wonder what they’d offer Farron.

Farron may indeed be that stupid but he should be reminded that he only got the seats he won due to the generosity of Labour voters giving him the benefit of the doubt. if he were to do it, he and all his new MPs would be joining Paul Nuttalls in the dole queue at the next GE which might well be in the next 6 months.

If he was sensible, the inclusive nature of JC may mean he is thrown a lifeline at the next GE that could mean him increasing his score by maybe 3 more seats all at the expense of the Tories.

I think having to face the Tory 1922 Commitee is somewhat worse than a visit by the Spanish Inquisition. Few people survive that experience even when they haven’t just lost a working majority.

Let’s hope that the committee’s view is that it’s unacceptable to de-stabilise the UK and that she cannot be allowed to do the same to Ireland endangering us all.

Tim Farron’s response on the likelihood of a deal with the Tories? “No deal is better than a bad deal”!
