Hinkley C is ‘risky’ and ‘expensive’ – but it’s our money so the Tories don’t care

I’ll just leave this here:

Generations of British consumers have been locked into a “risky and expensive” project by the UK’s subsidy deal for a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point in Somerset, according to a damning report by the spending watchdog.

The National Audit Office said the contract sealed by ministers last September with EDF to construct the country’s first new atomic reactors in two decades would provide “uncertain strategic and economic benefits”.

Further, Brexit and Theresa May’s decision to quit an EU nuclear treaty could make the situation even worse, by triggering taxpayer compensation for EDF or a more generous deal for the French state-controlled company.

The watchdog condemned the past two governments for failing to look at alternative ways of financing the power station, such as taking a stake in the construction.

Just another several life time building project with no end date like the other global projects. That’s why politicians should be kept away from all major projects as their five mins of glory end up with taxpayers paying for their very small political gain. Equally they are so niave there will be no penalties for late or unsafe delivery probably no skin in the game for future clean up costs and the very worse there will be newer safer cheaper cleaner technology by the time in gets operational and no longer required.

I wonder what Tory corruption is involved in this?

There’s always a Magic Money Tree for anything the Tories want, and what they want is primarily in the interests of them and their cronies. Utterly corrupt deceitful and fraudulent, grossly incompetent and on the wrong side of every issue.
