Tory cuts mean London must lose 4,000 police despite threat of terror attacks

What were the Tories saying about police numbers, again?

That’s right – they said concerns about the cuts they had inflicted were “scaremongering”.

And then the Manchester attack happened and the Tories had no armed police to put on the streets, because they had been cut.

So they put soldiers on the streets instead – but only around the Royals, Westminster, and foreign embassies. People who were actually under threat, like you and me, had to fend for themselves.

Now the Tories are cutting police numbers in London – but they’ll blame Labour’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, as he’s the one who’ll have to make the decision officially.

He’s right to issue this warning. It points out that the cut is only necessary because the Conservative minority government is cutting funding.

But he’ll have to keep repeating it, probably for the rest of his time as mayor, because Tories love to lie.

Sadiq Khan has warned the capital faces losing up to 4,000 police officers at a time of “unprecedented threat” in the wake of the Barcelona terror attack.

The London Mayor has claimed £400m in Government cuts will force him into measures that could endanger the safety of residents, with the terror threat level in the UK still classed as “severe” by MI5.

In a letter leaked to the Sunday Times, Mr Khan urged Home Secretary Amber Rudd to take “urgent action” to protect Londoners.

They must be preparing for the next round of tax cuts for millionaires.

So this is “strong and stable government”? seems more like a coalition of chaos to me.

they are probably making the cuts so Sadiq Khan is put in this position where he has no option but to cut the police force down further, as a way of getting the Labour Mayor out of office so they can get a conservative one back in (probably by the back door or some other means)

And once that happens, don’t expect masses of funding to come flooding back in!
