Tories ‘unprepared’ for snap election? Either Theresa May has a short memory or she thinks we have

Last Updated: September 29, 2017By Tags: , , , , , ,

Can anybody really believe Theresa May when she says the Tories lost their majority because it was a snap election? [Image: Daily Mirror.]

It’s enough to make us ask whether some form of dementia has set in.

Assuming she is still of sound mind, someone needs to point out – to Theresa May’s face – that she called the snap general election this year, after swearing blind that she wouldn’t.

Now she’s saying the Tories lost their Parliamentary majority because they weren’t prepared for a snap election! What gives?

She’s also – perhaps even more bizarrely – saying there was a lack of meaningful debate. Where was Mrs May when any debates were taking place?

That’s right – she was heading out the back door. Either that or she was delivering pre-prepared speeches to a pre-selected audience of Tory hangers-on:

A very small pre-selected audience, as you can see.

The fugitive prime minister’s reluctance to fight her corner led to a spate of satirical memes, like this:

Also this:

Emily Thornberry criticised Theresa May for “hiding behind the curtains at Number 10” rather than turning up for a televised debate with Jeremy Corbyn.

You get the idea.

Here’s what she said, from her interview (conducted by former – failed – Tory leader Michael Howard in The House magazine. It’s part of Politics Home):

By definition in a snap election you’ve not been able to prepare people for it. So out there people have to work quite quickly to put their local campaigns together, and you do get slightly more of a central approach. We need to look at that very carefully, and to make sure we get the connection between what people want to do locally and the central campaign.

And here’s what we said:

Nice one, Mrs May. You’ve really convinced us … that you’re a liar and a fool.

Over the last 3 weeks May has clearly become more irrational and delusional, lecturing UN, EU and many other about the very things she herself does; selling arms to dodgy nations, climate change and pollution, lack of debate, EU should “think creatively”. Her body language and increasingly contorted facial expressions plus her irrational, hypocritical outbursts all indicate she is either having a mental breakdown or on the verge of it. Her judgment is now so woefully bad that she really must be made to stand down.

Two days ago in May’s speech to the Bank of England she stated that Neo-Liberal Free Market economics was “the greatest achievement in human history”. This is as delusional as someone who thinks they are the New Messiah. She must be stood down.

Lets be fair here, how could she show up for GE debate, when she could not defend the policies, so now she must attempt to defend the indefensible position of not defending. This is not simply evasion, this is taking the electorate for fools, again. Nothing this woman can do or say will ever hold any credibility, it’s time she threw the shovel away and departed.

An admission of her own crass incompetence and lack of good judgement.
