Priti Patel has gone, but she has left a huge mess behind her

Meetings: Among those Ms Patel met on her “holiday” in Israel was that country’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu [Image: Daily Express].

It is good to see Tom Watson following This Site’s lead and writing to demand answers to the questions that were left in the air like a bad smell after Priti Patel resigned over her undisclosed meetings with Israeli politicians and organisations.

Mr Watson has written to Theresa May, seeking clarity over the mess – as I suggested should happen in an article yesterday:

I have been informed that while she was in Israel, Ms Patel met officials from the British Consulate General Jerusalem, but that the fact of this meeting has not been made public.

If this were the case, then it would surely be impossible to sustain the claim that the Foreign and Commonwealth Office was not aware of Ms Patel’s presence in Israel. The existence of such a meeting or meetings would call into question the official account of Ms Patel’s behaviour, and the purpose of her visit.

I would therefore be grateful if you could answer the following questions.

  • Did Priti Patel meet UK consular officials while in Israel?
  • If so, what was the purpose of this meeting or meetings, and when and where did they take place?
  • Were any minutes taken?
  • Was Priti Patel acting with your authorisation in any of the meetings she held during her visit to Israel?
  • When were you made aware that Priti Patel had met officials from the British Consulate General Jerusalem during her visit to Israel?
  • When was the Foreign Secretary made aware that Priti Patel had met officials from the British Consulate General Jerusalem during her visit to Israel?
  • When did you become aware that Priti Patel was visiting Israel?
  • When did the FCO become aware that Priti Patel was visiting Israel?
  • Why was it not made public that Priti Patel had met British consular officials during her visit to Israel?
  • Did you, or did the FCO, request that information about Priti Patel meeting British consular officials be suppressed? If so, why? If not, why was it not published?

I would be grateful for speedy clarification of all of these questions. Given the public interest in this matter, I am releasing this letter to the media.

The Jewish Chronicle alleges yesterday that Theresa May had full knowledge of Patel’s excursion and advised her not to put it onto her iternary.
What’s even stranger is Alastair Burt her former deputy was in Israel on an official visit, he claims he had no knowledge of Priti Vacant’s visit.

If it was a true family holiday, why would you visit senior Israeli politicans? Why visit the Golan Heights, which is a very sensitive area not recognised as Israeli territory by the UK.

Patel wouldn’t have acted without someone giving her the green light nor alone. We should all ask what did the Foreign Secretary know, who seems to be running his own shadow government.

No doubt Patel wouldn’t have walked away silently without a promise from Boris that she’s going to back in cabinet once he’s oyster the Maybot and supplanted himself as leader and PM.

But her departure leaves Boris exposed unless Maybot promotes one of his cheerleaders to cover for his shenanigans and regular gaffes.

Will May sack him next time he makes as serious mistake or will she continue to turn a blind eye. He certainly won’t resign.

It’s now a duel of the fools, who’ll blink first, who’ll pull the trigger?

Please let them destroy the Tory party so we can have Jeremy Corbyn as our PM.

I too KNOW that we have only heard a small amount of this murky tale. Happy to see Patel go, but suspect she was sacrificed to protect May from the impact of some skulduggery or deceit by a devious, delusional pathological liar in Number 10.

Agree that we need answers to these qjuestions, but at least we can now say that “Costs a Priti Penny” is an ex-minister.

This whole matter is shrouded in lies and deception. The public should know the truth.

Conspiracy that puts national security at risk! May seems oblivious to her collusion in this matter, me thinks this is not at an end.
