Shame on the DWP: This is an actual dialogue between a benefit advisor and a claimant’s doctor

Nobody at the DWP will cringe at the following. Apparently they don’t feel guilt.

For those unable to read images, it says:

‘I’m a doctor. This is a real conversation I had with the Job Centre:

“Hi, I don’t think Miss X is well enough to come to your appointment…”

“It’s a term of her benefits that she has to come.”

“I know, but I don’t think she’s well enough. Can you rearrange it?”

“So she came to your appointment?”

“Yes, but…”

“Then she can come to ours.”

“But she’s not well and I’m her doctor.”

“And she wants benefits and so she has to come here.”

“So you’re saying that she has to either jeopardise her health by coming to your meeting, or not receive any money.”

“If you’re trying to make me feel guilty you’re speaking to the wrong person.”‘

Just to add perspective to this dialogue, it might be useful to remember that a woman was afraid to leave a DWP meeting while she was having a heart attack because she thought she would be sanctioned off-benefit.

So there you have it.

The DWP puts benefit claimants’ lives in danger and refuses to feel guilty about it. Shameful.

Where is the legal challenge to this homicidal behaviour?

This is becoming the norm….I believe we all should be standing up and shouting from the rooftops about the treatment by the DWP……disgraceful! Why are these stories not on the frontpage of the newspapers?

Why didn’t the GP ask the Muppet their field of medical expertise? If they claim anything the GP then asks for their Number on the appropriate register. That should shut the Jeremy hunt up!

I like to say what a surprise, sadly it is not so what do we need, total reform of the DWP, yes high time, sacking of uncaring individuals- definetly, responsibilty for unfit assessments being carried back to the wca professional and the parent companies responsible including any care cost incurred by the NHS for there ineptitude, most certainly.

a change of leadership at the dwp, lets put all the vote leave crowd in, include the ones that have been sacked, are going to be sacked and bring back anyone else less desirable and start a new game you are the weakest link goodbye and the reward for the goodbye well misconduct in public office sounds good.

to compound this, how much has the government saved, cost of tribunals cost of this cost of that and cost to nhs, not to mention cases like AB of ch4 Dispatches fame, will they be saving money, they be telling you there strong and stable next.

still Xmas is coming and Father Boris can rig up his big riot control vehicle with the 1k cd player and go round London going hohoho look what I wasted millions of public money on, that just about sums up the current lot, not strong and stable weak and uncontrollable.

also who does a doctor think they really are after all nine years training is nothing compared to the 5 week overnight make a nurse training course that the dwp has, I mean with all the shortages in the NHS we clearly have not learnt, send them on the 5 week fitness to work course and the nhs shortages will be reduced how, easy we have 5 week nurses they pass everyone who is sick as fit and look at the solution, no more waiting lists, no more complicated procedures, it might even sound attractive to buy, it also is a sad day in the world when this is what amounts to the dwp in terms of ignoring a professional and I hope that they face a further enquiry into this

There is no legal challenge to this homicidal behaviour because it is legal it doesn’t matter that it was bankers that tanked the economy the poor must pay with austerity public sector workers must suffer real terms pay cuts except those public sector workers at the top (mp’s) mp’s tell us we should all tighten our belts except the rich and corporations they should have tax cuts because it’s hard work moving profits off shore to avoid the little tax they do pay
