Food bank donations dumped at Downing Street door in Budget protest

Last Updated: November 21, 2017By

The food was to be donated to a food bank – if Theresa May doesn’t take it for herself first [Image: i-Images].

I’m not sure the Conservatives will have understood the intention behind this.

To paraphrase the Metro: Food was dumped opposite the doorstep of Downing Street to protest against Universal Credit and austerity measures.

The pallets full of food were stacked on Whitehall on the eve of Philip Hammond’s 2017 Budget announcement.

The protest was organised by anti-austerity group the People’s Assembly, with the hopes of highlighting the message that thousands more people could be forced to rely on food banks this winter following the chancellor’s Budget.

Here’s RT’s report on it (strangely, I couldn’t find anything in the UK’s mainstream media, apart from the Metro piece. Odd, that):

Trouble is, if Theresa May sees a huge amount of food piled up on her doorstep, I reckon she’ll get the wrong idea…

And take it all in as the menu for her next banquet with some miserable media monster like Murdoch or Dacre.

The greedy, selfish and self-centred Tory scum will probably eat the food themselves. They like the idea of food banks – it means they don’t have to contribute to society themselves so that they can give themselves and the wealthy yet more tax cuts

no but that amount of food dumped there will only strengthen her idea that there IS plenty of food available……….. not that people are having the money needed to buy it, reduced or taken off them altogether and 99.9% of them for paltry reasons, i usually am pretty much with the peoples assembly and what it stands for but i do feel that this is not the right message to give. we arent dealing with normal people here. we are dealing with people brought up with privelage coming out of every orifice. therefore they do not think normally like others do.
