The 3.3 million women “pensioners” who can’t get a penny from Theresa May | David Hencke

Last Updated: December 18, 2017By

The movie is on Mr Hencke’s website (link below the extract).

It features a contribution from film-maker Ken Loach, whose I, Daniel Blake focuses on the way the system is stacked against sick and disabled benefit claimants.

Today I am putting up on my website a  documentary film  released today made by the Backto60 campaign who have interviewed women now in their early 60s who suddenly found that they weren’t going to get their pension when they retired at 60. Some of them sadly have committed suicide, some have thought of committing suicide.

They are angry [that] both the coalition and present Tory government decided to change the pension age without any notice so they can plan. They are the people who have worked all their [lives] and brought up families, often sacrificing their opportunity to work. Some have even put extra money into their pension, only to find they won’t get it until they are 66.

The government shows no sign of giving in to them – in fact ministers like David Gauke, the work and pensions secretary, have frozen other benefits instead- and if the Tories had a majority now would be pressing to end winter fuel allowances, free bus passes and the triple lock that guarantees pensions will  rise by 2.5 per cent a year.

As many as 3.3 Million pensioners are losing out on changes to pensions for women in thier Sixties. The Tories bought in these changes during the coalition government that meant that women who retired at 60 would not be receiving thier pensions until they turned 65. Sadly some women in thier early 60s faced with this loss of income by these changes have attempted or committed suicide. The backto60 campaign a documentary by David Hencke is aimed at getting the Government to reverse these changes to pensions and other benefits that have impacted severely on women in thier in 60s.

Why are your comments just capsule summaries of the stories? Do you not have an opinion?

Dear Mike Sivier, I am one of the 1st victims of pension age rise for women (born 1954) and welfare reform aka abolition. Labour would have won a majority in June if they had had the entirely omitted direct money in hand pensioner policies in Labour’s Manifesto. For men and women, 1950s born, all pensioner ages. Please could you post my petition on Vox Political Online in a Post of yours, and promote it being signed by ALL ages, to get the vital but still lost grey vote for Labour sufficient to get closer to gaining the 60 more Labour MPs elected, if we get the much rumoured (even by bankers JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs) 2nd early election in 2018. PETITION – pension 60 men and women – increased state pension all pensioners – https://you.38degrees.org.uk/p/pension60now
