The homeless are dying in the cold again. Tories must be delighted

The man was sleeping outside in temperatures reaching almost -1C [Image: Axiom RM].

What did David Gauke admit to Andrew Marr on Sunday? A 134 per cent rise in rough sleeping since 2010.

And he said the Tories wanted to halve this by 2022 and eliminate it altogether by 2027.

This Writer suggested that this would be done by allowing the homeless to die, rather than by lifting a finger to help.

It seems I was right.

A homeless man has been found dead near a city centre shopping centre after sleeping rough in freezing temperatures.

The man died after bedding down for the night on Saturday outside Wagamama’s near the Bullring in Birmingham.

The rough sleeper had been with a fellow homeless man but had failed to wake up shortly before 9am on Sunday.

Concern has previously been expressed among charity and outreach workers over rough sleepers equipped only with cheap blankets and sleeping bags.

How awful. So very sorry. And J Phillips MP hob nobs with Murdoch and his lackeys. Wonder if they had a laugh at this poor man. People are dying. Turns my stomach to think of a Labour MP with the very people who have bought untold misery to so many. Do you know his name Mike. Shame on J Phillips. No words to describe the disgust I feel.

i have been in touch with shelter and a local church that offers sleeping facilities with a hot meal and sleeping bags n pillows in the church buildings,. offering a duvet (not sure if its double or king size but anyone who can thread a needle(i cant see to thread one now or hold one without getting cramp in my fingers otherwise i would do it myself.. would make 2 single duvets easily… but apart from an acknowledgement email from shelter saying they would be in touch i have heard nothing. i dont know where else to offer them i cant manhandle it myself. and have no way of taking it anywhere. so it needs picking up. i would prefer it to go to someone homeless on the street or in desperate need of one in spite of having a home. its a shame people are dying like this yet this could so easily help to prevent at least one possibly two people from dying

(Even people with a roof overhead will be dying from cold this winter because of this govt.)

Those on the streets are an emergency as temperatures plummet again as the week end approaches. It will be volunteers, and many people sharing the little they have, that will hopefully save lives.

Let’s hope Jeremy Corbyn is right and we have a Labour govt within the next year.
