Daily Mail Motability shocker – is it to be believed?

I’m not sure about this one.

According to all the reports This Writer has seen, the government’s changes to Personal Independence Payment criteria mean thousands upon thousands of people have been losing the Motability cars that allowed them their valuable freedom.

So how is it that Motability’s chief executive is supposed to be pocketing such a vast amount of money every year?

It doesn’t make sense. The organisation should be contracting.

Can anybody shine a light on the reasons for this apparent contradiction?

A company providing taxpayer-funded cars for the disabled is hoarding £2.4 billion – and paying its boss £1.7 million a year.

The cash ‘surplus’ has been run up by Motability, a charitable scheme run by chief executive Mike Betts. Thanks to bonuses, incentives and pension payments, he pocketed 11 times as much as the Prime Minister in 2017, a Daily Mail investigation reveals.

The firm offers a fleet of vehicles to wheelchair users and others in return for part of their State disability allowance.

Its always like that, the departments and organisations and charities set up to help and provide and even advocate for vulnerable people and pursue their best interests still get more out and mega than the people they are trying to help. the public sector and the charities is a Great Cash Cow for many people and their careers..

That is where a lot of public money is going, into this mad mushrooming bureaucracy where there is a lot of high salaries and plushy jobs and high lifestyles which the clientele would never see themselves.

The Truth is, the amount per assessment to deny disability benefits is more than all the benefits that disabled person would get in a lifetime

Farming Fees. The public servants and private contractors get most of the public/our money to farm and manage us. We are referred to as units and stock. And my problem is Labour is always keen to mushroom it more.

I treat Daily Mail the same as the Sun(straight into the bin or as wrapping paper).

      In Car Dealer magazine!
I think that says something about the British news media, right there!
Will read with interest and hopefully put out a new piece later.

“Charities” are no longer what most think they are. Most have become govt supporting quangos “delivering” services that should be properly delivered by accountable elected bodies like local authorities. Motability is like many, providing very well paid jobs for the few, as austerity decimation of the well paid jobs & natural refuges for them (establishment, public school, middle england middle class middle aged mediocrity) have been transferred to the “charity” sector.

That is another reason charities are no longer campaigning organisations (although the legal limitations started that process), as many are supplicants for govt money, and agents for policy implementation .

If that’s true, then they are breaking the rules, as charities are not allowed to have a political allegiance.

(I tried to reply at the time, but there are more “technical” problems with your site than any other! Not your fault.)

I wasn’t implying charities have political allegiances per se, but under this govt and funding by the govt they will always know “which side their bread is buttered” as we used to say. Plus there are many known Tory supporters/ donors/ establishment members who are involved with charities, or hold influential posts, and we all know that charities are effective gagged under Tory law on political campaigning. That’s not the same as having political allegiance, but a strong survival instinct.
