Botched #Corbynsmear gives Labour a three-point poll boost – and rings a death-knell for the Tory press

Last Updated: February 21, 2018By

Jeremy Corbyn speaking at a Chesterfield gathering of socialists in 1987 – at the very same time he was supposedly meeting a spy.

Nice job, TelegraphSun and Mail reporters and editors: Your silly claim that Jeremy Corbyn was a Communist spy has given Labour a welcome three-point boost in the polls.

Mr Corbyn’s party is now back ahead of the Tories, where it belongs. Thanks, Tory papers!

In fact, supporters of Mr Corbyn are now asking if they can place orders for similar poll-boosting smears:

The smears originated with Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson, Security Minister Ben Wallace and Tory vice-chairman Ben Bradley. This Writer doesn’t usually have much to say in favour of Andrew Neil, but the usually pro-Tory broadcaster took Brexit minister Steve Baker to pieces over the behaviour of his colleagues on the BBC’s Daily Politics.

Another crushing blow for the smear story came when the files of the East German Ministry of State Security, the Stasi, showed no record of Mr Corbyn:

The Labour leader himself had a stark message for the purveyors of ‘fake news’, whose plan had so spectacularly backfired:

Yes it is (and, incidentally, the reporters and editors of the Sunday TimesThe Sun, the Daily Mail and all the other papers that libelled This Writer may soon discover how devastating that change will be).

Of course the old guard is desperate to hold on to its influence. Here’s The Spectator‘s Fraser Nelson, mincing the facts badly:

And here’s Novara Media‘s Aaron Bastani putting him straight:

It would be hard to find a more pertinent example of what’s happening here – the shift in influence from the mainstream dinosaurs to the new media champions.

This Site has little to add – except perhaps to reveal the result of a recent poll.

After the Corbyn smear was first published, I connected it with the revelation that Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson is known to have been on very good terms with a genuine Russian spy, Sergey Nalobin. So I asked: Who’s the biggest threat to UK national security – Jeremy Corbyn or Boris Johnson?

Now, after almost 500 votes were cast, I can reveal that the result was almost unanimous.

According to Vox Political readers Boris Johnson is the bigger threat to UK national security. He gained 488 votes – that’s more than 99 per cent of the total response.

And he’s the Foreign Secretary!

Only three people thought Jeremy Corbyn was a greater threat.

All in all, it would seem that, for Mrs May, her discredited government and its defamatory ministers, and her lying cronies in the press, the facts are clear to everyone.

And they don’t need to read a newspaper to know what’s really going on.

What a Party! Labour are led by a man who could be in two places at once, in London meeting a Czech spy and passing on top secrets, while also being in Derby addressing a meeting! All this and M15 noticed nothing! At the same time, he was able to pass on details of Mrs Thatchers private life while pretending to be an isolated back-bencher in the Party that opposed her.

Par for the course for Labour, of course. I mean, just ask any dedicated Tory voter and they will admit that the last Labour government was led by men of such impressive personal power that they were able to practically destroy the entire global economy, just by opening Sure Start centres to help the poorest children in Britain get a better life.

You couldn’t make it up. Then again…..
