Iain McNicol’s resignation is GOOD for Labour – but who should replace him?

Last Updated: March 1, 2018By

This Site’s readers have overwhelmingly indicated that the resignation of Iain McNicol as general secretary of Labour is good for the party.

A massive 98.39 per cent of respondents – 305 people – said it was good that Mr McNicol had quit.

Only five people – 1.61 per cent – were disappointed at the loss.

But now applications have started to be submitted for the post – who should get it?

At the moment, it seems to be a battle between elements of the party’s left wing, with Unite the Union’s Jennie Formby opposed by Momentum founder Jon Lansman.

Time for another poll, I think:

Why have we only a choice of two? Members should have a vote in this and it shouldn’t be rushed

We need hustings and election statements before voting.
