Philip Davies has gone too far – if accusations of criminal offences against comedian are true

Last Updated: March 6, 2018By

If the allegations by Luisa Omielan are accurate – and I have no reason to believe they are not – then Theresa May should make a public apology for the behaviour of her MP Philip Davies, and he should be suspended or expelled.

It seems the Shame of Shipley not only physically assaulted Ms Omielan, he also apparently tried to steal a BBC video camera, and even allegedly tried to unlawfully imprison her in his office. These are all criminal offences.

Here’s Ms Omielan herself, talking about what happened immediately after her encounter with Mr Davies:

She also tweeted about the incident:

If this was a filmed interview, then the evidence is in the camera Mr Davies tried to take, and Ms Omielan was right to keep it from him.

She should take it as evidence to the police and the Speaker of the House of Commons. This means she’ll have to make copies, and this would be a good idea in any case, as back-up should the originals be lost somehow.

Both the Daily Mirror and Skwawkbox have contacted Mr Davies for a comment. He reportedly told the Mirror, “I have no faith that the Daily Mirror will accurately report what I say.” And Skwawkbox has published his comment to that website, which was: “Only a hard left-wing blinkered idiot would believe anything at all they read on SKWAWKBOX.”

Perhaps he’ll change his tune when (if?) the filmed evidence enters the public domain.

Meanwhile, Owen Jones has called on people who are angered by the incident to support a crowdfunding campaign to unseat Mr Davies.

He tweeted:

Once again, if you want to help unseat Mr Davies, please visit the crowdfunding site and donate as much as you can.

They really do think the are a Law to Themselves. I do not know which school or background they come from, must be a bad one.

I am fed up with public apologies, that is when you spilt the milk or accidently stood on someone’s foot.

This is abusive criminal behaviour and offence and abuse and intentionally stopping true legitimate journalism and freedom of the press. She is not a sleaze reporter or paparazzi.

They are all a disgrace but an awful lot of people like that sort of behavior and are prepared to vote for these people as their representatives in Parliament.

They know they have no answers, so resort to bullying. Nasty bullies.

The BBC have received a complaint about this also – think you may want to post an update Mike.

I’ve been away from my desk. Will see if there have been developments.
