Food and drink prices set to soar in post-Brexit ghetto Britain

Last Updated: March 10, 2018By

This is the hard truth that shows the harshness of the Tories’ NHS pay offer, and the lie it represents.

If the UK plunges out of the EU with no free trade agreement, then prices of food and drink are likely to rise by one-sixth.

That is a huge mark-up, and one that makes the Tories’ below-inflation pay increase for NHS staff even more of a mockery than it already is.

If the UK leaves the European Union in the way Theresa May seems determined to take it, then the majority of the population will be forced into food poverty – at a time when wages will have been deliberately (and wrongly) depressed for more than eight years.

The rich will do quite all right, thank you very much.

But the UK will become no better than a corrupt Third World dictatorship.

Food and drink prices are set to soar under even the best potential Brexit outcome, a secret study reveals.

The Brexit Committee has released the EU Exit Analysis – Cross Whitehall Briefing six weeks after parts were leaked.

It predicts non-tariff barriers would raise prices 8% to 17%, depending on whether we fell under European Economic Area rules, a free trade pact or World Trade Organisation terms.

Only imports could go up but if we produce it ourselves that keeps costs down. Do we really need the amount of imported stuff we get assuming the amount of waste the EU make us throw out because of shape or size? Use it and the producers get paid and at the same time put one over the EU, Let them keep their certain shape or size while we grow it and eat it.

Don’t blame me I voted remain

We need to convince those who voted Leave or who didn’t vote, to write to their MPs and tell them they want to stay in the EU. It’s People Power that’s needed as MPs are blindly following what they seem to think is “the will of the people” even though only 25% of the population voted Leave.

and a smaller percentage voted to remain.

From where are you getting your figures to say food ad drinks will rise by 6% after we leave the EU? At present the EU places a tariff of between 6% and 23% on food so at to pay for the subsidies to Farmers under the CAP. This means when we leave their will be no CAP for us to pay into and prices should ,all things being equal, shrink from between 6 and 23 %.

The figures are from the Commons Brexit Committee.

never doubted this for a minute. but not much anyone can do about it. most people these days live in small homes. most modern homes , i.e. houses, are being built smaller and smaller. with very little storage space. those people who are single, over 60s, in some cases over 50s, are in bungalows, single disabled or just simply single of any age are in 1 bedroomed flats or even accomodation where the bed area is sectioned off from living area by a curtain. or simply 1 room.(thats if they arent already living on the streets) No one has hardly any storage space for normal everyday essentials so cant hoard food.to keep them going for even a few weeks longer.(assuming they have enough money to buy more than the bare minimum for a week.)

This is by design, to make people buy more, usually, than they need.

These people haven’t even started yet. Trouble is, many people read and believe the lies in the majority of newspapers, and see the promised land. Sadly, William the Conquerer started the suppression of the masses and, even after a long series of depopulating “Wars,” the people still do not get it. The Tories think they are entitled and we are nothing. It is not hard to work out! You want a war with Russia?

I always quote the old ladies who said, “don’t put all of your eggs in one basket.” Why did nobody listen to them? Supposing that the E.U. had gone belly up and we needed to get out? Why do we import so much food? WE hear about England’s green and pleasant land so, why is it not producing enough food for us to eat and sell? something has been amiss for years. The prospect of Brexit is, in my opinion, highlighting the failures of successive governments. We should, as a nation with a temperate climate – unique in the world – be able to feed ourselves.
