The Labour Party accusation machine has turned against Debbie Abrahams

Last Updated: March 11, 2018By

Debbie Abrahams: Accused – but of what, exactly?

If somebody in the Labour Party is trying to knife Debbie Abrahams in the back, I would certainly like to know why.

This Writer has always found Ms Abrahams to have been highly supportive of Vox Political‘s attempts to expose the Conservative Government’s ill-treatment of benefit claimants – particularly the sick and disabled.

Labour’s process for investigating possible breaches of party rules by members, on the other hand, is profoundly flawed. In particular, I have found that it lacks justice.

In such circumstances, until I see proof of misbehaviour, I shall support Ms Abrahams’ innocence.

It seems she is accused of bullying, by political advisors employed directly by the Labour Party – and it is the Labour Party who will investigate the allegations. Doesn’t that seem a little one-sided?

Like others who have fallen foul of Labour’s bizarre and unreasonable disciplinary procedure (such as, for example, myself), Ms Abrahams has not been told any details of the claim made against her, what happens next or when.

She had best keep her wits about her – if her case is investigated in the same way as mine, she may find herself misrepresented at every opportunity.

She has said she may take legal action over the matter, and I may well applaud her if she does. I am considering the same over the way my own case has been handled.

This is a disturbing development. Perhaps it is time someone investigated the accusers.

“Debbie Abrahams told the Daily Mirror: “I refute the allegations that have been made against me in the strongest possible terms.

“I will fight this spurious claim and do not rule out taking legal action.

“I have had no details about the complaint, who it is from, the process or timescales. I have not agreed to stand aside.”

A perfect way of bullying?! And if Debbie doesn’t know her accusers or the exact nature of the accusations, who can she trust? Who can she work with? Unknown people are getting this stuff down to a fine art!

    MIKE

The worry for me-she goes on to attack the Leader’s Office, not the Labour Party.
Jeremy has no influence on who works for her at all, so why is she saying that?

Accusations of bullying (and it apparently is allegations not an allegation) need to be investigated, unless you want us to be like the Tories with Damien Green, or sugar-tits. If they are false accusations, then yes, expel those who made them from the party, but no way should they not be investigated in depth.

The allegation is apparently being made by a party-appointed advisor. So somebody in the Labour Party had an influence on who was working for her, beyond Ms Abrahams herself, it seems. Somebody in the Leader’s Office.

She could attack people in the office, without attacking the leader himself, of course.

Yes, allegations should be investigated – but in a reasonable way. Believe me because I’ve been through the process: The Labour Party investigatory procedure is not reasonable at all.

Where is Corbyn throughout this? My trust for the Labour party is getting less and less everyday, thst is the real secret to Losing elections. What does any of this matter when the Tories are Murdering people every week?

Get it together Corbyn!!! and start sacking the bullies, unless of course you are one of them! No wonder you never win elections!!!

Isn’t that the aim of these vexatious accusations, though – to get people like you to distrust the Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn?
It seems to be working well.

But Why Mike? It is like cutting off your nose to spite your face, (not yours) of course.

I think the people doing it are happy to try to mess up Corbyn’s Labour. They think they’re secure in their own jobs, so they’re happy to screw it all up for everyone else, including people like you.

Funny isn’t it Mike? Labour go ahead in the Polls, then someone in the Labour party starts another internal squabble. You’d think some people in the party don’t want it to do well…

Debbie is being stitched up, a bully she isn’t. This smacks of corruption, although her stand in is a good egg

    Yep, Labour Party usual behaviour

Suspend you ban you purge you because of concerns allegaltions

    What allegations

Well we are not at liberty to disclose or discuss them with you

So how do I challenge and contend them

You will have to got through a series of Spanish inquisition examination boards who have already decided that you are guilty and need to be punished, reprimanded accept your guilt and be recommended to go through some more training, and apologise thus accepting your GUILT

Yep who ruins Labour’s reputation and people’s trust in it.

    Labour itself

It is this kind of thing which is losing people and keeping people at bay

It’s a hold-over from pre-Corbyn Labour. The Chakrabarti Report recommended a different system that has not yet been implemented, and we’re all wondering why.

If claims are disproved will we then take action against her accusers?

I think the logical thing is to have an investigation, which is what is taking place. Debbie Abrahams should naturally be informed of the accusations and the process, but she wouldn’t necessarily get it the same day.

The political advisers to the shadow cabinet are, btw, appointed by the shadow ministers who they work for together with the leader’s office, although formally they are employed by the Labour Party. So there’s no need to see the long arm of Labour Party HQ in this.
