The Tories are losing members so fast they will not be able to fight the next election – claim

Logically, they will need to fight an election earlier.
Most interestingly of all, the problem for the Tories is said to be a lack of democracy – policy comes from the top, down to the members. And the members, as a result, do not feel valued. So they leave.
And what is Theresa May doing to fight this?
She’s lying – about Brexit, about Russia, about Labour… And liars always get their comeuppance in the end.
Pro-Corbyn activist group Momentum’s total membership looks set to overtake the entire membership of the Conservative Party before the next election, staggering new figures released by the group… reveal.
Momentum – who were set up in the wake of Jeremy Corbyn’s successful Labour leadership campaign in 2015 – released figures that showed their membership had soared to over 40,000 – meaning the pro-Corbyn group now have more members then the entire Green Party, who have around 39,000.
The figures released by Momentum revealed that their membership is growing by an average of more than 1,700 new members a month, with over 6000 new members joining in the past three months alone.
Furthermore, Momentum said that if current trends continued, their total membership would surpass the entire membership of the ruling Conservative Party by the time of the next election in 2022.
Membership of the Conservative Party is thought to have plummeted in recent years, with figures now estimated to be well below 100,000.
On the basis of a rough £20 a year average membership fee, the Tories would have had 72,950 members in 2016. And with predictions of a mass Tory member exodus, this figure is almost certainly likely to have dropped substantially.

How would you know?
That’s good news.
It will be interesting, at the very least, to see how membership numbers have an affect on Party performance. It is possible that the Tories could become a kind of “Zombie Party” ie essentially dead but still lurching through the political life of the nation. Without members to maintain a local presence, they would still have the most widely-read newspapers like the Sun and the Mail, so we would be getting the Tory line just by perusing the headlines in the local supermarket. Without members paying subscriptions, they would still live on , buoyed up by massive donations from UK, American and Russian oligarchs. Without members active enough online, they would still have the money to pay online outfits like Cambridge Analytica, to do that for them.
The Labour Party has the members and some of the money. I am desperately hoping that will be enough to make a difference. If not, democracy will die.

Problem is, those sods will buy their next result again.
Membership of the ‘conservative party’ well below 100,000: presumably the rest of the ‘outfit’ is ‘sleepwalkers’ then! Sleepwalking into oblivion with a bit of luck!
We cannot wait – we need a general election now.
