John Woodcock’s local Labour Party joins Vox Political in complaining about his hate speech

John Woodcock: He was threatening to quit Labour a few days ago – now he might be leaving with the party’s collective boot up his backside.

It’s nice to see that Barrow in Furness Labour Party agrees with This Writer about the abhorrent opinions of MP John Woodcock.

Here‘s the BBC to explain: “Barrow-in-Furness Labour Party has written to the party’s ruling NEC to ask what it should do about comments by its MP John Woodcock.

“The local party is known to be unhappy with Mr Woodcock’s repeated attacks on Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership.

“Mr Woodcock was one of a number of Labour MPs to attend a demonstration in Parliament Square calling on Mr Corbyn to do more to stamp out anti-Semitism in the party.

“He called the Labour leader’s subsequent decision to attend a dinner organised by a ‘radical’ Jewish group ‘irresponsible and dangerous’.”

It is, of course, the height of anti-Semitism to suggest that some Jews are less relevant as members of their ethnicity than others – that there are, in effect, ‘good’ Jews and ‘bad’ Jews – especially if the person making the claim isn’t Jewish himself. But that is what Mr Woodcock has done by complaining about the Seder that Jeremy Corbyn attended with the left-wing group Jewdas.

So I complained to the Labour Party about it.

I quoted Mr Woodcock’s appalling tweet:

And then I stated: “Mr Woodcock’s claim that the organisation Jewdas, with whom Jeremy Corbyn celebrated Seder, is the wrong kind of Jew is the most vile kind of anti-Semitism.

“He must be suspended from the party at once, with a view to expulsion.”

That complaint has been passed to the Labour Party Whips’ office. Hopefully the message from Barrow in Furness Labour will strengthen my own.

And we’re not alone:

That is not a definition of hate speech.

It is when anyone hates any opinion except their own in a large echo chamber

No, it still isn’t. We’re discussing a definition of hate speech, not the opinions of people in an echo chamber. And, by the way, This Site is not an echo chamber.
