From bad to rotten: Sajid Javid appointed as new Home Secretary

Grin and bear it: Being Home Secretary is like taking a poisoned chalice but Sajid Javid has accepted the job.

The man responsible for cocking up the Tory government’s response to the Grenfell Tower tragedy has been appointed as the new Home Secretary by flailing prime minister Theresa May.

Perhaps she hopes Sajid Javid will be as bad at restoring their rights to the Windrush Generation as he has been at restoring homes to the survivors of Grenfell.

How long did Theresa May say it would be before the Tories re-housed them? Three weeks?

And how long have most of them been in temporary accommodation? Nearly a year.

Pathetic.

And what about his time as Business Secretary, when he ignored the advice of senior civil servant Edward Bell in order to keep granting export licences for weapons being sent to Saudi Arabia, despite allegations of war crimes in Yemen?

But when Tata announced it was selling its UK steelworks, Mr Javid was off on a jolly to Australia. And he spurned a crisis conference with Welsh Labour MPs to attend a business event organised by a right-wing American think tank instead.

We may conclude that this is a man who is happy to deal out destruction to foreigners while delivering destitution to people here in the UK.

There’s more:

And this is Theresa May’s choice to replace disgraced serial liar Amber Rudd.

Her record of appallingly bad decision-making continues unabated.

Was she looking for another human shield, rather than someone able to do the job?

Just tweeted you and checked admin on Independent media. I can see others have commented on your posts over there but all I can do is share. I posted to admin asking what was going on had a pop up reply and responded to that then fb popped up saying I don’t have permission to reply but can if I go to the IM page. All of the other contributors are fully accessible but your posts are share only for me. It’s the same on your fb page I can only share your articles can’t comment, can’t reply and no emoticons but no problem here or on twitter full access? Just wondered if you’re aware it can’t just be me that’s being blocked from commenting

Rudd has become the fall guy (sorry about the gender misalignment) for fronting
and trying to carry through the policies that May herself thought out as Home Secretary. Surely May, had she a shred of grace and decency, now resign?

May has a problem in that she hasn’t got any real talent to choose from. I can’t think of one minister that doesn’t exemplify the Peter Principle to a T. As bad as Rudd was any alternative from Tory ranks is worse.

    The Peter Lorre/Golum of politics.

    No good choice

But as Bastani points out we are being run by newbies who only got in in 2010 or Labour veterans Corbyn and Wadsworth being taken criticised and taken apart by 2015 intake of smeeth and jess.

Who knows, it might be Ruth Smeeth and Jess Philips as Home Secretary and Foreign Secretary if Labour gets in. as no oldies-but-goodies will be left.

and I am not happy how the new young socialist left are happy to bow down and suck up to establishment and Labour exec powers. WHERE IS YOUR OPPOSITION AND PASSION? Oh Yeah, Got Told Off, I have to Behave.

Knew it was Javid when he sucked up to Rudd on twitter calling her best Home Secretary and saying how she should not go but stay

“GOT THE PHONECALL JAVID, HAVE WE?”

They always have another MP that’s on par or worse than the MP they replace..
I’m sure they spend sleepless nights breaking out in cold sweats thinking up new ways to inflict more damage to us poor serfs . . . .
