Johnson mocks May over customs union – what does he have to do to get the sack?

Conventional wisdom suggests Theresa May is terrified of what Boris Johnson might do from the back benches, if she forces him out of the Cabinet.

But Amber Rudd has already been sent there after Mrs May forced her to take the blame for the Windrush scandal (instead of the weakling prime minister herself) – and she hasn’t kicked up a fuss!

I know – they’re different people.

Personally, I wish I’d brought popcorn.

This infighting between leading Tories shows they are deeply divided and the only thing holding Mrs May’s administration together in any way is the selfish instinct for self-preservation.

The whole lot of them have to go. They know it, and they know we know, but they damn well won’t go yet – not when they can inflict years more damage on the UK and its citizens.

The rest of us will just have to endure them as well as we can, in the knowledge that, the longer they cling on now, the longer they’ll be out when the electorate finally summons up the courage to push them out.

And in the meantime we get to enjoy pieces of theatre like this. And when I say theatre, I mean farce.

Boris Johnson has seemingly mocked Theresa May over Cabinet Brexit divisions – just minutes after the Prime Minster faced a grilling over splits in her top team.

Speaking in the Commons after Prime Minister’s Questions, the Foreign Secretary quipped he was in “conformity” with Theresa May over the UK’s post-Brexit customs policy – as the policy has “yet to be decided”.

The remark, which left many on the Tory benches seemingly stunned, was delivered as Johnson was making a statement on President Trump’s decision to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal.

Is this the start of the nasty slobbish Johnson’s next self-centred leadership bid?

That began when he stepped out of the nasty party’s last leadership pantomime.

He knew then and now that the lies he told and the poison chalice they helped to deliver would destroy the leader. He’ll begin sounding off about leadership and seeking to curry favour sometime after March next year, before the next general election.
